Welcome Home by @Phinomet

Here’s a another lovely doodlewash from Philippe (@Phinomet)! He painted this last weekend, and I love it because it’s actually the view we see every day as we’re walking into our townhouse. Our front door is just to the left of that tree. Philippe is ahead of me on practicing a looser style with sketching and watercolor and I really like how this one turned out!

We’re going to be taking the Travel Sketching in Mixed Media course by Marc Taro Holmes on Craftsy soon (he was offering a discount for blog readers over at Citizensketcher.com. Check it out, as this looks like a great course!) One of the lessons in this course is entitled “Draw Like A Painter” which sounds just like what we’re wanting to do. Our primary goal is to sketch more and sketch faster, so we can doodlewash more things in our sketchbooks when we take our next trip to France.

Travel is fun, but looking at this doodlewash I realize how much I really do love being at home. With little daily routines that we’ve become so accustomed to, we barely notice we’re even doing them. Trying and experiencing new things is fun, but sometimes it’s just as fun to enjoy the blissfully expected, yet never boring comforts of home.

  1. Hmmm…this one went missing from my Reader feed (thank goodness for email notifications). Love that bright and sunny painting! I want to take the Travel Sketching class, but I already have about 15 Craftsy classes that I bought and haven’t watched yet (bad internet at home means I can only watch them when I’m in town at the library with free wifi). I look forward to the paintings you post on the blog from doing the exercises!

    1. Ugh…not sure what’s going on Teresa! Just posted another one. Let me know if that shows up. Hehe…we have a few classes like that. Craftsy classes are fun to collect! Just have to find time to take them! (And better internet…wow…I have to admit being addicted to having a fast internet connection.😊)

  2. This is awesome and the class sounds great. I wish I had time to add something like that. My Women’s Intuitive Horse-Back Riding starts this week! If I could just do with a little less sleep, I could do more!
