Doodlewash by Pat Saez - watercolor painting and sketch of lion portrait of lion's faceHello! My name is Pat Saez from San Jose, California (follow me on Instagram!). I love art and animals! I started taking Watercolor classes in March 2015. I was finally in a place in my life that I had the time and support from a loving husband to pursue what I have been desiring for so many years: painting!

I started taking weekly classes and I am completely addicted. I attended an auction last summer that had a nice watercolor picture for bidding. That’s when I knew exactly what my goal was:

Paint for animal charities!

Doodlewash by Pat Saez - watercolor sketch and painting of cat portrait - cat's face close upI have only experimented with watercolor. Sometimes, I use watercolour pencils for outline. I love experimenting with vibrant colors and different techniques: a looser style and more creatively detailed. I really like strong bright colors like cadmium orange & yellow. I especially love to paint eyes. There is so much I see through eyes: sadness, happiness and a beautiful soul. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats that I have rescued. It’s wonderful to have live models roaming around the house.

I feel blessed to have found something that I love so much. I hope that in the years to come, I will continue to learn and improve and one day see my art help the animal world. That would be a dream come true.

  1. I love this statement Pat- “Every moment that I am painting feels magical. I feel blessed to have found something that I love so much.” That is so wonderful! And your animals do have special eyes! I feel like I could recognize one of your paintings anywhere because of this specialty.
