Written by While I realize June has just begun, I’m so excited for July when World Watercolor Month, our annual global celebration of watercolor, returns! What could be better than 31 days of watercolor to celebrate the medium we all love?! And participation is as simple as adding the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth whenever you post any work that contains watercolor (or gouache!) during the month of July. (these will appear our global gallery here!) You can also join us and post right here on Doodlewash by logging in with Facebook (click here to learn about Doodlewash Club). There are exciting things planned for the month so please read on!

Let’s make this year’s event bigger than ever!
It’s a completely charitable event meant to raise awareness for arts education and help underprivileged kids get art supplies via The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. You can even donate your gently used art supplies for their unique and awesome recycling program (click here for more info!). So my sincere hope is… the more people who share the hashtag, the more people will find out about the cause, and that means more art supplies for kids who need them!
31 Days Of Watercolor
And yes, I’m hoping many of you will join me for the ultimate challenge of painting 31 watercolors in 31 days, but it’s not a requirement, so please just join in whenever you can during the month of July by adding the hashtag when you post and let’s celebrate the month together!
If you haven’t seen it yet, below is this year’s video (thanks Philippe!) that reveals our amazing official sponsors for the event (Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, Color Swell, Daniel Smith, Da Vinci Paint Co., Hahnemühle, Legion Paper, M. And this year, we have awesome Artists Ambassadors as well! These generous and amazing artists have agreed to donate at least $1 on each purchased class, painting, and/or other products on their site to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation during the month of July! Even if they’ve never even tried watercolor before, this would definitely be the month to give it a go! Hopefully if they tell two friends and they tell two more, we’ll have made sure nobody misses out on this amazing month-long celebration of watercolor!
