World Watercolor Month – Day 1 – A Delicious Beginning

World Watercolor Month is off and running and so many beautiful watercolors are beginning to fill our group social gallery! Please join in by tagging your watercolors #WorldWatercolorGroup everywhere you post them (even if you’re not participating in the daily challenge). I’ll be going prompt-free for much of this month, and just painting what comes to mind. For today, I thought I’d serve up some canapés as that’s the proper thing to do when you invite people to a party! Luckily for you, I’ve not asked you to come over and eat anything I’ve actually cooked. I’m rubbish at cooking as many of you know. These are the heat-and-serve kind that we always end up getting while visiting France, which even I can manage. It’s the thought that counts. And right now, I’m thinking of each of you and wishing you the happiest month ever, filled with lots of beautiful watercolor art! Please continue to spread the word so we can get as many watercolorists as possible to join us! Whether you’re an urban sketcher, plein air painter, hobbyist, abstract artist, or just trying watercolor for the very first time, this is the month to come together and celebrate the medium we all love!

Since I post in the evening, I always arrive a bit late to this party. There are already people in some parts of the world who have posted for Day 2! And I’ve got a lot of fun things planned this year and there will be several giveaways coming, so stay tuned. I’ve been so busy preparing everything, I’m actually totally exhausted, so I’m going to be resting this evening and enjoying a lovely glass of wine. We live in a world where there’s countless ways to communicate and somehow it makes communication even harder than ever. Apologies in advance if you read my posts regularly and hear me repeating myself a lot. I’m not losing my mind, I’m simply trying to make sure the message about the month gets out to everyone. One important message is that the month is about more than a hashtag, it’s about raising awareness for art education and getting much needed art supplies to kids who need them. That’s why I partner with The Dreaming Zebra Foundation and do hope you’ll consider making a donation in honor of the month by clicking here! We can really make a difference in the life of a future artist!

Thanks for making the world a more beautiful place with each brush stroke. The world has been a bit crazy lately and headlines haven’t always been the kind to cause smiles. So, I think it’s more important than ever to join together and create beautiful things that we can share with the world. As a unified group, we can send a message of solidarity, beauty, and hope. We each have our own unique styles and preferences, but we all share a love for this medium that has captured our heart. July is the month to share our mutual love with the entire world. And, yes, it’s a month to have a heck of a lot of fun! Much love to all of you and as always, happy painting!

I’ll endeavor to do as much #worldwatercolormonth as I can. it will not be the complete month, but I will have fun with it 🙂 ps the Pizza Day doodle wash keeps on, grabbing my eye. over and over. I do love it. cheers, Debi

    1. Thanks so much, Debi! 😃💕 And yay to jumping in on World Watercolor Month! I hope everyone jumps in at some point. Please spread the word that the 31 days thing is optional. It’s hard to get that bit across! hehe And yay to pizza! Lol I’m so glad you liked that one!

      1. Yes, I will do that!! I enjoy all your posts, and whatever you do Charlie. often, I get tied up with work and family things so you may not “hear” from me for a while! but, I do look 🙂

    1. Aww thanks for letting me know! I fixed the link so it works now. It’s so tough to communicate all the things I need to in the month and well… make sure my posts are accurate! 😊 Thanks so much for donating!! That’s so wonderful, Sandee! 😃💕

  2. Thank YOU for making the world a more beautiful place with each brush stroke! You do so much to promote art through watercolor. I especially like that you are raising awareness of art education, and making art supplies available to kids to need them, so they can learn at an early age of the wonderful opportunities of art. Kudos to you.

    1. Aww thanks so much! 😃💕 I’m just so passionate about connecting and helping to make more artists. Especially at a young age. Art classes keep disappearing, but they’re so incredibly important to a child’s growth. Together I’m sure we can make a difference!
