Halloween has arrived and with it, a host of spooky things and creepy costumes are wandering the night. I wasn’t sure what to doodlewash for today, so I opted for a mysterious potion of some kind. As to what this potion is for, I’ll let your imagination decide, because I have absolutely no clue. Though I do like the idea of an all-purpose potion. One that doesn’t have a predesignated purpose, but simply exists to grant a wish. That, to me, would be the best potion of all. I’m not sure such potions exist in a bottle form or in any form really. But, I do think that if we want something badly enough and put in the time and energy to make it happen, it just might. That’s a bit like magic in the end. On this evening of ghouls and ghosts, Philippe and I are hiding indoors and since we don’t get trick or treaters where we live, we’re just relaxing and don’t have to answer the door every few minutes. I kind of miss that though as I love seeing the costumes and creativity of the kids that drop by. On the bright side, we don’t have to part with any of our candy.

Actually, we don’t have much candy about at the moment, so if the random child stopped by they’d be terribly disappointed. We sometimes have a bit of chocolate, but Philippe eats it all before I can get a bite. It literally disappears like magic. I don’t mind as it’s probably the best diet one could hope for. Rather than restricting yourself, you simply have someone kind enough to eat all the naughty stuff before you could possibly indulge. That said, if there’s anything I truly want, I make it a point to say so, and if that doesn’t work I sort of hide it from view. Tomorrow we celebrate our anniversary, or at least it’s the day that it happens. We don’t really do much to celebrate. For a 3rd anniversary, apparently the theme is leather, which is odd if not a bit salacious. I don’t think we’ll be following that particular tradition, but I think it’s as good of an excuse as any to have a bit of cake.

And this is the last day of yet another Doodlewash challenge which is always a bit bittersweet. Next month is a celebration of gluttony! Well, not exactly. Just a wonderful chance to fill a cornucopia full of lovely sketches and memories. And the beginning of my two absolute favorite months of the year! My inner child has already been happily scribbling a list of presents for Santa to deliver. And retail stores everywhere have already started showing signs of the holiday season. Sure, the end of the year has become a rather commercial event, but give me a bit of egg nog, smart conversation, and cuddles by the fire and I can forgive all of that. It’s a beautiful time of year to enjoy the things you love and the people you love who made having those things possible. This time of year is such a simple mix of love, kindness, and family, all wrapped in a spirit of giving. I really can’t think of anything more wonderful than that. And, in the end, it’s really the most memorable way to make a magic potion.
