So the winner by a landslide on the last vote was something with a sweet couple enjoying the season. I realize this may have made some think I might try a double self-portrait of Philippe and I, however, since I typically avoid single self-portraits, we have a doodlewash of these cuddling Christmas Doves instead. Not sure if anyone will be around to see this post and vote for the next one, but I included a poll anyway, just in case!

PresentsI had a little time to paint because I was trying to come up with things to distract myself from the impending presents this evening. Also, I had to hide upstairs for awhile because Philippe still hadn’t wrapped any of his gifts for me yet. When I came downstairs, I noticed that he had a gift exactly the same size as one I had for him, wrapped in exactly the same penguin paper. The likelihood of giving each other the same gift is slim, but it’s going to be fun to see what the heck is in those!

Currently he’s downstairs transforming my favorite Christmas Cake into a Yule log while singing  Mele Kalikimaka,  so this is shaping up to be a fun evening ahead. The best part of Christmas in our house is watching Philippe get excited about the gifts that he’s about to give. I’m not sure he even cares what’s inside the packages marked for him as he delights so much in the giving. I think that’s one of his more attractive qualities. And with no big family gatherings to attend, we get to have our own special evening.

I hope all of you who celebrate this season are enjoying a beautiful Christmas Eve in whatever way makes it special for you. And if you have a special someone in your life, it’s the perfect time to let them know just how much they matter to you. Perhaps, even cuddle up like this pair of doves. And also, I’ve felt very lucky this year to have met all of you , so I’ll just end this post by saying thank you and much love. Your wonderful support of doodlewash.com is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received!

  1. How adorable! And, nice though it would have been, I know you far too well to have expected you and Philippe to pop up for this one! Sure I am, though, that it will happen eventually 😉

All those presents – eek! The main event is nigh. I hope you have a lovely evening!

  2. I love your love birds! And your tree looks amazing.. Are you sure there aren’t more than the two of you (plus Phineas) living there with all those presents! 😁 I hope you had a magical day! ❤️❤️❤️

  3. Ah, by now all the wrapping has been torn off all those beautifully wrapped gifts! I can’t wait to hear about what wonderful gifts you got from Philippe, Charlie!! 🎁😄 And your doves are so sweet! 💖💕🎄

  4. You´re really so sweet! It was very nice meeting you too! 😊 Unfortunately now I´m excited too what´s in these penguin presents! I hope you´ll tell us tomorrow! Love your doves, isn´t it nice that they stay together their whole life as a couple?! Have a wonderful Christmas!!! 🎄❤️

      1. Aw :-), you’re so friendly! I think they might be Mourning Doves. They look plain and beige from the distance I usually see them with my naked eyes, but I looked at some pictures and they have pretty turquoise eyeliner and their beige feathers can look pinky and turquoisy if the light its them just so.
