Written by Well it’s been an interesting week so far, and I’m still trying to debug an issue on Doodlewash, which proves to be perfectly mysterious. For anyone attempting to upload art and having issues, please hang in there as I’m still trying to sort out the problem. In this particular case, the problem is perfectly bizarre and unusual, much like my take on pears today. So many times in life, we find ourselves in a situation which proves to be a bit inscrutable. A part of me gets a bit tired in these times and feels a little deflated. The other part me, the one that usually wins, is ready to jump in and figure out how to create a solution. I might need to take the site offline tomorrow for a brief period to sort things out, but never fear, all will be fixed shortly. At least that’s the plan. Sometimes, when you set out to do something big there can be a few bumps along the way, but they’re simply there, not to upset us, but to remind us that we’re actually doing something. And that’s always better than never trying in the first place.
In spite of any recent challenges, I still make a little time to make something each day. In the end, this is still one of the most important things of all. It would be really easy to say I simply couldn’t paint today, but why? I’m not sure how I could ever deny myself the pleasure of grabbing a paintbrush and making a little something in my sketchbook each day. What on earth could be so important as to dissuade me from doing so? The answer is nothing. Honestly, there’s always a tiny bit of time to make a tiny something. And best of all, that time is rejuvenating and incredible. Whatever it was that threatened to steal me from it, will be solved or enjoyed much more once I’ve taken the time to create. You know you’ve become an artist, not when you’ve created and sold a masterpiece for thousands of dollars, but when creating something becomes as important as breathing. When it’s simply something you have to do each and every day.
And that’s the thing that always keeps me driving forward with a positive attitude. There are many bumps in the road in an art journey or a life journey. But there are so many highs compared to those lows that it makes the journeying worth all the fuss. And each day, I see small improvements in the work that I post here. Some days, I read a line that I’ve written and think that it sounds rather nicely composed. As I write and illustrate each day, I’m learning new things and discovering bits about myself along the way. I don’t often approach life in a very linear fashion. I tend to bounce around from thing to thing and moment to moment. Even when I stop to consider things, I can often find that I’ve put myself in a perfectly ridiculous situation. Instead of trying to find a way out, I look to find a way in. If it’s a bit crazy, then it’s probably going to produce the best results. In life, there’s what you might expect, and then there’s the intriguing, if not ridiculous, sketch of a pear in a glass.

Sometimes I am able to load your site and sometimes I can’t. When I can’t, I just come back later and eventually it loads without a hitch. It’s worth the extra tries it sometimes takes. Good luck in finding the bug and exterminating it.

Charlie, I think discovering yourself is the most important thing you can do. And this painting of a pear in a glass is lovely. As for fixing the problem on this site – I am able to wash the computer screen. Does that kind of fixing things count? Guess I can’t help you then.
haha! That totally counts! 😃💕 Don’t think I haven’t tried just washing my screen to see if things appear as they should. hehe… in the end, I’m out of my league so I’ve left it to the experts to figure out. I’ll stick with painting!
Your pear in a glass is incredible. As you know, I’ve been going back and reading some of your earlier posts and the improvement, both in your painting and your writing, is inspiring. I do some kind of artwork almost every day, though not always painting, and I do miss a day or two every so often. I find I sometimes need a break, whether because of physical wear & tear on my wrist or just to let my creative juices rejuvenate. I’m in awe of someone who can go day after day after day!
Aww thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 Yay! So happy you’re seeing improvements in both! In many ways I end up finding the painting and writing is actually the break itself for me. That’s how I’ve managed to keep it going. I haven’t found a better way to unwind each day yet!
I also love love love my set of six Escoda brushes too. And as for the pear in the glass (which is very beautiful) you are just showing off how wonderfully you can paint glass and I can’t. (I haven’t had any problems with the site when I’ve been on.) You can fix it!!

There is no wrong with a pear in a glass, it looks simple and elegant. And there’s nothing wrong with bouncing around either. I often think bouncing is the best way to see things from all angles providing a better understanding and giving more options for solutions. Keep right on bouncing, I have faith you’ll solve the site problems. 😊

Charlie, I’m not sure that you’ll get this in 2020, but I am responding to your crystal clear pear in a cup. Always enjoy your glass paintings, but to put a pear in a square glass reminded me of those ink blots. “Pear-fectly different.”
