Bantha Milk Cocktail – May The Fourth Be With You!

Okay, so I’m a huge Star Wars fan and even though I’m doing a food and beverage theme this month, I couldn’t possibly miss this important day and had to make a super quick doodlewash to celebrate! Today is Star Wars Day because it’s an awesome way to sneak in a good pun on “May the Force be with you,” the signature line from the franchise.  Also fun for this post, as it sounds like how you’d say it after too many cocktails. I’ve chosen to stay in my food theme and celebrate with this crazy galactic drink made of the blue milk that Aunt Beru serves Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars movie ever made. Apparently, it’s the milk of those big fluffy horned elephants that also appear in the movie. Not sure who has the daunting job of milking an elephant, but that part was thankfully never shown.

Another choice for the day could have been Jawa Juice, an alcoholic drink made from Bantha hides. Apparently, the Bantha is a rather useful creature when it comes to the Tatooine food and beverage industry. If you’re not familiar with Star Wars, then what I’m saying at this moment might make me seem like a raving lunatic. Suffice it to say, seeing Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, was one of my coolest childhood experiences in the 70’s, so I just had to geek out for a moment. But, if a creamy blue cocktail is your sort of pleasure, then before you rush out to milk an elephant, you can simply click here for a more earthly recipe.

Love it or hate it, Star Wars has had a profound effect on popular culture over the years. The tagline for this day was first recorded back in 1979 when Margaret Thatcher won the election to become the first female prime minister. As part of the celebration, her party took out a half page ad in the London Evening News with the tagline, “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.” So for all you Star Wars fans out there, it’s your day to raise your glass of Bantha Milk and proudly proclaim your place in the fandom with a toast! For everyone else, you can simply be thankful this geeky post has now ended.

  2. May the Fourth be with you! For me, I’ll still be partaking from you last post- strawberry shortcakes, but had to substitute raspberries. I’m glad I’m not running on the way home from work to purchase Bantha milk, just straight home to the Cool Whip. 😉

  5. Raving lunatic! 😉 Haha, I’m so in the dark with all this – the pun does linger from school days, though, so I figured you’d be celebrating in some fashion. I think I’ll keep quiet lest I incur your wrath (or plain embarrass myself), and just sit and admire that awesome drink – what a dangerously attractive colour!

I was going to do something else entirely and the many Star Wars posts I was seeing made me want to join in! Glad you liked the blue cocktail. No idea how this would taste… Zonkey milk might be better in the end. Lol

I wonder if it gives you a blue tongue! 😝 Which reminds me of black licorice ice cream my sister loved as a kid…it used to give her black lips and a tongue! 🍦 Great imagination you have Charlie and don’t ever change a thing! 😄💕🎨

  11. I will never forget sitting in the theater, watching the giant words loom over head and then the starship itself filling the entire screen – out of this world. Now my grands are into Star Wars and loved the newest film in the series. Between this film and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, all future seemed possible, all peace seemed ready to break out.

  12. May the fourth be with you too…..I just loved that film, and I prefer the original, dare I say it after so much money was spent digitally upgrading it. I could be classed as a near geek I guess, especially as I nearly purchased a one off hand made dress with Star Wars over it, I really fell in love with it, sadly it was a little too big for me. We have a geek shop in boscome, Dorset in the uk, it is full of original items from many of my childhood memories, either upcycled items like the clothing, or the merchandise from films kids tv etc, it’s great for a little reminiscence, I love your blue milk, I can hear the music playing, with all the weird creatures bopping away.

      1. Lol, it was a lot of money without spending more, they are made from the old child duvet covers, in any iconic style, I did buy a Paddington bear duvet ….which was the one I had in the 70’s so pretty personal, I hope to get that made in to a dress some time.

          1. Really, I thought he was just a uk thing?? I would have liked a Sesame Street one too, as I had, and still have the original big bird alarm clock, and a radio. But the Star Wars one was just so lush…..plus my brother would have been jealous, but not enough to want to borrow it.

          2. My family is from England and Ireland and my mom was very into British shows and stories. Still is actually…hehe… she used to make stuffed Paddington bears for craft shows! And your brother in a Star Wars dress would be awesome I’m sure! lol
