Here’s another of those vegetables that I completely snubbed as a child… beets. I thought they tasted a bit like dirt and really didn’t enjoy them. Now, I rather enjoy them in all their earthy flavor. And being a huge fan of color, I also appreciate their glorious hue as well. A few sliced beets in a salad look rather gorgeous set against the green leaves. And I’m happy to report they now taste good as well! All that said, I still have them rather rarely and they somehow fail to make it to my top ten list of requested vegetables.
For daily Doodlewash readers, today’s post is going to be rather short, if not abrupt. There’s been a death in the family, and so we’re currently on a flight back to Paris. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to post on my normal daily schedule, so if you don’t see my post, rest assured I will return soon. I’ll still be painting daily… it’s the best way I know to find peace. I’ll still be posting when I can, but might be slow to respond to comments. Much love to you all!

Here is to the beet and not tasting like dirt to our grown up taste buds! 😉 Your beet looks like it has arrived straight from the garden patch!

I still don’t like beets! I hope I can change my opinion just like you did! I just nominated you to do a 3-day quote challenge! Yay! The rules and info is here https://thelostmango.wordpress.com/2016/11/18/quote-challenge-3-switzerland/ I really hope you can do it! XOXO
Thanks so much for the nomination my friend! 😃💕 Unfortunately, as I mentioned in this post, I’ve been called back to France due to a death in the family so I won’t be able to participate at this time.

I seem to recall, many years ago, a beetroot crumble – which, let’s be honest, I probably wasn’t a fan of 😉 – but other than that I’m not sure I’ve even tried this. At least I can appreciate their awesome hue via your doodlewash!
And much love back to you. So sorry to hear that – my thoughts are with you both. xx
Thanks so much, Jacob! 😃💕 You now have beets to add to your menu! hehe… we made it hear safe and sound and I truly appreciate the warm thoughts my friend.
I saw a recipe the other day for a red cake cupcake recipe using beets! ❤️ Sorry for your loss, Charlie. Safe travels for you and Philippe. 💕💖

My thoughts to you and Phillipe, safe flight, you take as much time as you need, and don’t pressure yourself with posting, at this difficult time ❤️ Your beet is like a gorgeous vegetable heart, I adore the colours 😀
Thanks so much, Rebecca! 😃💕 I truly appreciate that! And well… you know I’ll still paint every day because I just can’t stop. 😊 But it’s truly the best thing I can think of to do right now.

Thanks so much for that, Maggie! 😃💕
Missed this yesterday – so so sorry to hear of the loss 🙁
Thanks so much, Jodi! 😃💕 Yeah… I sort of buried it in the bottom of a post. Wasn’t sure how to mention it, but didn’t want people to wonder if I went missing. It’s a difficult time, but the family is together and we have plenty of food and wine, so we’re getting through it.
