This time of year, when the days get shorter, the candles always come out. There’s something so beautiful about candlelight. It’s no wonder candles are the star of the scene in every romantic moment during a movie or in real life for that matter. You really can’t help but feel wonderful when surrounded by the light of flickering candles. Here we have a little doodlewash of a votive candle. I found this rather difficult to paint in a short amount of time, but it was a fun challenge. I’m still in Texas with my family and today we had a belated full Thanksgiving dinner. I can barely type this as I’m full as a pig and finding it difficult to stay awake. I’d love to blame the chemicals in the turkey, but sheer gluttony was the true culprit.
Right now, we’re watching the original Jungle Book while surrounding by flickering candles. I’m drinking coffee in order to stay awake for the evening. The net effect is just putting me into a stupor and doing nothing to combat my food coma. I’ve no idea why this time of year seems to always involve moments like these. No matter how much I think I’m taking sensible portions, I still manage to overindulge in food. My stomach feels like I swallowed a beach ball at the moment, but the food was delicious so it was totally worth it. As fun as it’s been here, it will be nice to return to normal life and eating habits next week. It’s been almost a month since we’ve been home for a full weekend.
I should probably head back to the movie now, even though I’ve see it a hundred times. That’s another fun part of this holiday season. Watching the same movies you love with family. Thankfully, I’m not the only one who’s catatonic from food, so I fit right in. As the little flames flicker in the corner, I’m feeling very happy. Sure, I’ll feel physically better once my stomach deflates a bit, but emotionally, I’m in a perfect place. Surrounded by people I love, filled with holiday cheer, while sitting on the couch simply enjoying candle season.

Candles are wonderful at convincing us to do nothing too energetic, they produce an ambiance of relaxation. I adore wood wick candles, the smell and sound, like a real fire at Christmas, cracking away with a spicy aroma. Enjoy the remaining film….🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵……obi do, I wanna walk like you, talk like you, oo, oo 🎶🎵🎶🎵😮
Thanks, Rebecca! 😃💕 candles are definitely like that! Love just snuggling inside this time of year. And yep! That song is now going to be in my head all evening! Lol
I’ve been lighting candles around here as well. As long as there’s one little flame, it’s never fully dark – I love that about candles. Positive energy. Your blue votive is serene. Enjoy the rest of the week with the Texans.
Thanks, Sharon! 😃💕 That’s a lovely wait to think about candles. And it’s just a long weekend here…heading back home to Phineas tomorrow!
Your candle turned out beautifully. As a beginner in watercolor seeing your art encourages me. Thank you for sharing and please enjoy your time with family. Blessings to you.

Candles are one of my obsessions, Charlie, and I love the glow and sparkle they add to a room. This is a lovely little doodlewash, but even more lovely is your description of the love and happiness in your heart. <3

Ah ! Juggle book …so many memories ! Love it really !
I like your way to paint glasses, in fact, I never try to paint them. The light seems to me so difficult to do (or undo in fact !). Happy Monday !!
