While I fully realize the actual prompt today was “chilly” I immediately thought of a bowl of chili, but only had time to sketch a single ingredient. So, we have this 15-minute doodlewash of a chili pepper. Also, I actually had the most amazing bowl of chili last weekend when we went out to lunch, so it’s been on my mind ever since. It was that kind with just the right about of spice to make everything come together perfectly. Often how I hope my watercolor sessions will turn out, or just about every event in life really. I think life is just better with a bit of spice. It would be horribly dull otherwise. But as we close out the week, I’m just happy for the weekend. I’ve been creating an insane amount of new features on Doodlewash.com and there’s still one yet to be revealed that’s crazy awesome. Thanks to all the awesome artists who have jumped in to help me make this the best watercolor community on the planet! Seriously, we’re totally building this together which is the coolest thing in the world! Love to you all and I wish you a fantastic weekend!
Fridays are always tough to post as I have the least amount of time. Making a little watercolor illustration is actually the easiest part. The hardest part is creating some sort of post that roughly makes sense. I’m not a writer by trade, but I have profound respect for writers everywhere. It’s not as easy as they make it appear. In the end, I’m really just typing and rambling on about whatever comes to mind. I’m not entirely sure this qualifies as writing at all, but it’s rather cathartic after a busy day. In truth, this was a rather stressful week and I had a night when I could barely sleep at all. Too many things happening at once and my mind was racing with ideas and simply wouldn’t calm down. Not even my glass of wine managed to sooth the inner beast. But in this moment, I feel perfectly wonderful. That beast was simply my creative urge, dying to make something impossible happen. And, in the end, I think it may have actually worked. More will be revealed soon, but suffice it say, always listen to your creative beast.
And for those of you who have been participating in our lovely community here on Doodlewash, you should notice that you’ve been acquiring DO Points for DOing so. These are like a watercolor currency that you can use to redeem in the DO Points Shop. As a special thanks for your support, all of these shop rewards on now at a discount for the next week! How do you get DO Points? Well, it’s super easy. Simply jump in and DO! Comment and favorite the posts of others, and if you want a hint for how to get the max DO Points, you can Send Invites from the tab in your profile and earn 10 points for each invite sent and 25 for each one accepted! This is, after all, your community so you should really be in charge of who shows up next. I really think we can make something awesome and fun happen if we all DO it together. It’s like that little burst of spice that makes everything just that much more amazing. Like chili peppers on a chilly day.

Chilli looks so realistic, feeling to have it just now😋
Thanks so much, Meenakshi! 😃💕
Holy Guacamole! That chili looks hot! Just got back from having nachos and they would have been better for a little bit more spice. As you say, it makes everything more interesting. I must go now and try to think of any of my watercolor friends that aren’t already part of the group, lol. I’ve been telling them about the group and urging them to join. If I’d known I could have scored more points, I would have waited, lol!
Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 hehe… thanks for summoning the troops!! The point thing only triggers with the Send Invites link in your profile. There are so many features present on the site, I can’t even remember them all! lol
Love that pepper! And thanks for explaining the “DO” points. It’s a great idea to get more people to interact.
Thanks so much, Sharon! 😃💕 It’s been a fun addition! You should share some art in your profile as well! hehe… more points! 😉
I know, but I admit to being afraid of putting my art out there. One day soon . . .
Never be afraid! Especially not here… it’s the absolute perfect place to start! Everyone is so supportive, because I absolutely demand it! hehe 😃💕
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You are an absolute doll! And I enjoy your writing as much as your beautiful art. Thank you so much for making this happen. My father is unwell and I am constantly traveling back and forth between Cincinnati and NoMich, and cannot commit to anything, including art classes. Doodlewash fills a void in my life and helps me navigate through some turbulent times with fresh and pleasant activities and challenges to look forward to. Thank you, Charlie!
That is the most incredible thing to hear. Thank you Elsie. I’m sending you love and hugs and wishing you safe travels. I’m so thrilled to know that Doodlewash can bring a bit of happy for you right now. 😃💕
What a realistic work 😃
Thanks so much, Amit! 😃💕
A glorious chili pepper!
Thanks so much, Sharon! 😃💕
Blimey, that’s a red hot chili pepper alright! I think I need a glass of water just looking at it 😛 Hope you can enjoy the weekend and leave the stress behind. Yay for doodlewash therapy!
Thanks so much, Jacob! 😃💕 Yes! Doodlewash therapy is seriously the best… well with a bit of wine of course. hehe… perfect combo!
That is one potent looking pepper! At least it’s shadow allows a bit of a cool down.
Hehe.. thanks, Shari! 😃💕 Yeah… needed a little something to cool it down!
Charlie, I finally took the time to explore all the content on this site, and what I’ve found is amazing. I’ve been reading all the comments, looking at all the art, and generally getting active. Now I can’t tear myself away until I get caught up on all I’ve missed. You have truly created something amazing here (with help from fantastic club members).
Aww thanks, Sharon!! 😃💕 Yes… I totally didn’t do any of this alone. The entire community formed what this has become. It’s SO much cooler that way! My vision was to create it, theirs was what you see today!
Beautiful chili pepper and I love everything you have done to make our little corner of the world so much fun.
Thanks so much, Sandra! 😃💕 I’m so thrilled to know you’re having fun! That’s the whole point!
That pepper must be from Arizona. It looks fabulous!
Aww thanks, Teri! 😃💕Tough to get the red, red enough! lol
it sounds like you and I are going through just those same emotions, overwhelming but so creative. It’s growth spurts like this that hurt but will be awesome int he end.
So true!! 😃💕 Creativity can sometimes be a painful process, but it always reaps rewards in the end!
