Chili Peppers On A Chilly Day

While I fully realize the actual prompt today was “chilly” I immediately thought of a bowl of chili, but only had time to sketch a single ingredient. So, we have this 15-minute doodlewash of a chili pepper. Also, I actually had the most amazing bowl of chili last weekend when we went out to lunch, so it’s been on my mind ever since. It was that kind with just the right about of spice to make everything come together perfectly. Often how I hope my watercolor sessions will turn out, or just about every event in life really. I think life is just better with a bit of spice. It would be horribly dull otherwise. But as we close out the week, I’m just happy for the weekend. I’ve been creating an insane amount of new features on Doodlewash.com and there’s still one yet to be revealed that’s crazy awesome. Thanks to all the awesome artists who have jumped in to help me make this the best watercolor community on the planet! Seriously, we’re totally building this together which is the coolest thing in the world! Love to you all and I wish you a fantastic weekend!

Fridays are always tough to post as I have the least amount of time. Making a little watercolor illustration is actually the easiest part. The hardest part is creating some sort of post that roughly makes sense. I’m not a writer by trade, but I have profound respect for writers everywhere. It’s not as easy as they make it appear. In the end, I’m really just typing and rambling on about whatever comes to mind. I’m not entirely sure this qualifies as writing at all, but it’s rather cathartic after a busy day. In truth, this was a rather stressful week and I had a night when I could barely sleep at all. Too many things happening at once and my mind was racing with ideas and simply wouldn’t calm down. Not even my glass of wine managed to sooth the inner beast. But in this moment, I feel perfectly wonderful. That beast was simply my creative urge, dying to make something impossible happen. And, in the end, I think it may have actually worked. More will be revealed soon, but suffice it say, always listen to your creative beast.

  1. Holy Guacamole! That chili looks hot! Just got back from having nachos and they would have been better for a little bit more spice. As you say, it makes everything more interesting. I must go now and try to think of any of my watercolor friends that aren’t already part of the group, lol. I’ve been telling them about the group and urging them to join. If I’d known I could have scored more points, I would have waited, lol!

    1. Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 hehe… thanks for summoning the troops!! The point thing only triggers with the Send Invites link in your profile. There are so many features present on the site, I can’t even remember them all! lol

  2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You are an absolute doll! And I enjoy your writing as much as your beautiful art. Thank you so much for making this happen. My father is unwell and I am constantly traveling back and forth between Cincinnati and NoMich, and cannot commit to anything, including art classes. Doodlewash fills a void in my life and helps me navigate through some turbulent times with fresh and pleasant activities and challenges to look forward to. Thank you, Charlie!

    1. That is the most incredible thing to hear. Thank you Elsie. I’m sending you love and hugs and wishing you safe travels. I’m so thrilled to know that Doodlewash can bring a bit of happy for you right now. 😃💕

  3. Blimey, that’s a red hot chili pepper alright! I think I need a glass of water just looking at it 😛 Hope you can enjoy the weekend and leave the stress behind. Yay for doodlewash therapy!

  4. Charlie, I finally took the time to explore all the content on this site, and what I’ve found is amazing. I’ve been reading all the comments, looking at all the art, and generally getting active. Now I can’t tear myself away until I get caught up on all I’ve missed. You have truly created something amazing here (with help from fantastic club members).

    1. Aww thanks, Sharon!! 😃💕 Yes… I totally didn’t do any of this alone. The entire community formed what this has become. It’s SO much cooler that way! My vision was to create it, theirs was what you see today!
