So today we have a little fireplace at Christmas based on your vote. I hope this proves to be worthy of a good snuggle! Philippe suggested this one as an option. Well, actually, he just said “why don’t you doodlewash fire” and so I figured the fire needed something a little extra to go with it.
This was a huge challenge as I’ve never painted fire before, or a fireplace for that matter. Actually, I’m beginning to realize after these past few months just how many things I’ve yet to doodlewash. There’s much I would do differently next time, but I was pleased with the effect on this first try. Sadly, with this crazy warm weather we likely won’t be lighting a fire this year, so this little doodlewash may be all we have. I’ll just print it out and hang it above the fireplace I guess.
I’m a little late with this post, but still managed to squeak in a doodlewash before moving back into holiday mode. In order to post it, however, I’m delaying Philippe’s Lego City Advent experience, so I better keep this one short and sweet. He hasn’t wrapped my gifts yet, so I need to be on my best behavior! One week from tonight, we’ll be opening them and I can’t wait!! Hope you are all having a wonderful evening, snuggling up to whatever you choose!

Woohoo! One week until Christmas Eve! And this fireplace is AMAZING! You should make these into cards and share with peeps! Enjoy your evening!
Thanks so much Jodi!! ❤️😃 I wasn’t sure how this one was going to turn out once I started. I felt like a caveman making fire for the first time! 😊 I should have made cards to send to people… but I super failed on that front. I did however get all of Philippe’s gifts though! Hehe 👍🏻
oh you didn’t fail silly – your blog is like a card for us every day! YAY!
Awww…you’re sweet like a cookie to me every day and that’s truly a gift!! ❤️😃
I loved your fireplace 🙂
And no fireplaces blazing here either ; today we had 65F ,and Nov was the hottest of the last 34 years , the weatherman said !
Turtle Hugs , and be good or …those presents won’t get wrapped 😉
Thanks so much!! 😃💕 Yeah…this weather is crazy and doesn’t feel like Christmas, but it will be fun anyway. Hehe… and I was good! Didn’t make him wait long at all! Lol
This is very cozy, definitely deserving of snuggle time. 😊Love the warmth radiating from it. I think you captured the mood so well!
Thanks Kari! 💕😃So happy you think so! I realized that I sort of worded that option as something I had to live up to in the doodlewash! So happy you think it works!😉hehe
Hey, I can feel the warmth all the way down here…No, I’m not in Hell, ‘tho some would wish that on me!! 😉
But, where is mousehole, for mouse to come and sit on the warm hearth, too?!!
Ahhhhh…that’s what it needed!! 😊I’ll definitely have to add a mouse hole! A little mouse would have been good too! Hehe And glad to know you’re not in Hell! 😉💕😃lol
LOL…mouse sitting on the woodpile, not too close, don’t want to singe his/her fur! 😉💕
True…but the woodpile is closer than the wall! Lol 😳🐭🔥
…imagination, Charlie… 😳🐭🔥
Lol😃
Warm and cozy! Wish it was real. Love the feeling of light reflecting and your flames came out great! Enjoy ur evening!😊
Thanks Nancy!! 💕😃You made my night! The light was super hard for me to figure out for some reason! Very likely because I’ve never done it before. Lol 😊 Hope you’re having a wonderful evening as well!
Well, I’d say you are a pretty quick learner!
Hehe…thanks! 😊
Your fireplace reminds me of my parent’s cabin they once had at the lake. The fire was warm and inviting just like your doodlewash, Charlie!! I would never have guessed that you did not know how to paint fire as it looks super good to me. And I like the shadows around the fireplace. And your Christmas stockings look like a scene from a child’s book! ❤️ YAY Charlie! 🎄🌟🎁
Awwwww I’m sending you a big fat virtual hug for all those kind words Jill! 💕😃 I haven’t tried to make fire before (that makes me sounds like early man…you know what I mean! 😊) I’m happy it evoked warm memories! Yay! 😃
Haha! Thanks Charlie for the laugh! Cheers! 🍷
Hehe!! Cheers!! 🍷🍷😉
It’s cold in Las Vegas, so I appreciate your beautiful warm cozy Doodlewash
The countdown is on!!
Thanks Sharon!! 💕😃 Glad you liked this, and I hope you’re managing to keep warm!! Yay to countdown!!!! Hehe…I’m like a little kid when it comes to Christmas!! 🎄 Except for the wine, that’s new…but everything else is still the same. 😊
Lol, be sure to report all the fun details!
I definitely will!! Hehe!! 👍🏻😃
Excellent! You nailed the fire part of the fire. I love the glowing stones around the fireplace and the stockings hung with care. This image is full of win.
Thanks Kirk!! I was thinking I got it to look a bit fiery finally… Glad you like it! For some reason my brain really struggled with this one at first and I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. It’s a bit of a made up scene and I didn’t have any good reference photos for what I wanted to paint. 😊
I like it very much.
Thanks friend!
Wow! I’m astounded how you made the bricks glow with firelight! BRAVO!
Thanks Nicole!! 💕😃I really wanted to make that happen but didn’t know what I was doing! 😊 hehe… So glad you like it!!
This looks amazing Charlie, especially for having not painted fire before. Having been using our stove I can tell you you’ve got painting flames down to a tee. I really like how it looks alive in the picture as well.
Awww thanks!! I really appreciate that! This one stressed me out a bit when I started because I felt a little lost. 😊 I’m thrilled you like it!! Thank you!! 😃😃
No problem it looks really nice.
Awwww, this is such a beautiful painting!!! You´re so talented, fire really is a hard one (I never managed to paint a nice one). Here the weather is unusually warm too, people stand in T-Shirts on the Christmas makets, drinking mulled wine anyway… I wonder if there will be any snow this year. I hate climate change, I want my winter back!!! 😉🌨❄️☃️⛄️
Awww thanks Ann!! 💕😃 And I know!! I hate this weather shift! It’s killing my Christmas feeling…hehe… Tshirts are not supposed to go with mulled wine!! Here’s to having a proper winter!! 🍷❄️😉
Indeed! Cheers!!! 🍷☃️😄
Your painting has the atmosphere, even if the weather is uncooperative. And if you want those stockings filled, I know you’re not going to forget to put Santa’s goodies out there too…(K)
Thanks Kerfe!! 💕😃Hehe…yeah… And I’m pretty sure my Santa would be swayed with Belgian chocolate. 😉
I think you are right!
This is just perfect Charlie, very happy holidays-esk! Another wonderful and festive doodlewash!
Thanks so much, Cathe! 💕😃Even if the temps are warmer, this is still what I think of during the holidays! 😊
What a wonderful view Charlie – I most definitely want to snuggle up beside it. Your execution of the flames and the firelight is perfect! I wish there were the need for such a roaring fire here… I went out yesterday (shock horror!) and really was so warm I wondered why I even bothered with a coat. My hairdresser said there’s talk of temperatures around 18 C here on Christmas Day. I mightaswell do Christmas in shorts and t-shirt. :/
Thanks so much Jacob!! Glad you found this one suitably snuggly! Hehe 😃 And ugh…this warm weather is bumming me out and trying to kill my Christmas buzz! I think it’s going to be slightly cooler here, but Philippe said at one point they had us down for 21C!! Not on Christmas!! 😥
Oh lord – 21? What a hideous thought. We barely hit that in the middle of summer!
I know!! It’s horrible!!
I get warm just looking at your painting, Charlie! It’s beautiful! Glowing, glowing! Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Laura!! ❤️😃 I’m glad you like it. Making a glow was not something I’ve done like this before, so I’m happy it came across!! 😊😃hehe
very sweet fireplace. so well done.
Thanks Rachel!! So happy you liked this! 💕😃
Awesome fireplace. Warm and inviting!
Yay! Love that it evoked those words. That’s what I was going for, but wasn’t sure if I got there! Hehe Thanks Teri!! 💕😃
