Today we have a super last minute and fast doodlewash, before I head out the door to meet up with friends, of this empty glass jar and red lid. There’s really no story behind this one, as I was looking for something simple to sketch and this seemed to fit the bill. Also, I wanted to try playing with just three colors again, so this one features just Cobalt Teal, Burnt Sienna and Pyrrol Red. This isn’t a combo I’ve ever used before so I hadn’t a clue how the colors would be when mixed together. It was a fun exercise and the complete lack of time made it even more of a practice in speed as this was done in less than 20 minutes.
I now have less than 5 minutes to write this post, and I just learned that I can paint faster than I can type as there’s only a couple minutes left. So I’ll just say that I hope everyone had a wonderful week and has a fabulous weekend! We’re in the third week of World Watercolor Month and it’s been amazing! I really am overwhelmed by just how many people have come together to paint the world with watercolor. There are around 3,300 members of the Facebook Group and already over 10,000 posts on Instagram of beautiful watercolors from people all over the globe. In a world that often seems uncertain, it’s nice to know there’s still a lot of beauty in the world. And that makes me so happy.

A quick treat, Charlie! I love the caustics coming from the glass, smartly (and surely snappily!) done. Hmm, I’m wondering if this could be the jar of Nutella that you licked clean after yesterday’s gorge? 😉
Have fun!
Thanks!! 😃oh my…if there were the jar I think I’d likely just be a diabetic coma now. 😊 I can assure you it’s not! Lol
You have a magical touch with glass just as you do detail. Love this painting, and not just because I love green tinted glass jars, glass balls, glass…stuff. ;D If you had not said there was no story, I would have read something very profound into the imagery…and may still, but your color combination is wonderful and striking with the splash of red. Beautiful painting!
Thanks Haunani! 😃💕So glad you liked this! And yes! Please create your own story for this image…hehe… I just really wanted to practice glass. But it does seem a metaphor for something. 😉
The rendering of the glass is fabulous.
Awww thanks so much, Laura! 😃💕
Another fantastic glass watercolor Charlie, and in such a short amount of time! You’ve inspired me to try glass. I have a couple in mind.
Have a wonderful week-end too!
Thanks, Deborah! 😃💕And yay!! Do it! Do it!! It’s really fun to paint glass. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I tried painting a little jar I’ve saved for eons…but man it’s awful, because I don’t have your skill with drawing perspective quite yet. It’s not post worthy, but it’s given me an incentive to keep on trying! Thanks again for the inspiration!
Yay to doing it! Just keep painting it! You’ll get one you like! 😃💕
Oh you did the jar so amazingly!!!!! Have fun tonight!!
Awww thanks so much, Jodi! 😃💕And I did have fun! Hope you’re having fun as well this weekend!

Have fun, Charlie! 🙂 And your jar is AWESOME! Maybe you are “opening up” your jar of creativity and letting your imagination spill out?! Hehe! 🙂 And have a great week! I’m off to the lake for my vacation…
Thanks Jill! 😃💕And excellent! We’ll go with that story!! Hehe…I had zero time to write a proper one! Not even sure what I said in this post as I was typing so fast! Lol 😊Enjoy your vacation my friend! Yay!! 🎉😃😃😃
This is stunning work Charlie, for a quickly put together piece, I would have thought otherwise, I think this is the best bit of glass you have done, I agree with Jacob, you really did enjoy ALL the Nutella? Hope you had a great evening out 😀
Awww thanks, Rebecca! 😃💕I always do such a range that I’m trying to practice one thing more. So I chose shiny things. Glad you see improvement! Yay! And no…fortunately it’s not an entire emptied jar of Nutella! Lol 🐷
Oh my goodness, this is amazing! You really know how to paint glass so wonderfully! Thanks to you, Charlie, for wrangling us all together 🎨
Awww thanks so much, Carol! 😃💕Glass is so fun and this month has been incredibly fun and wonderful!! Hope you’re enjoying it as well!!
Have a great weekend Charlie! (K)
Thanks Kerfe!! 😃💕Hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!
Less than 20 minutes to paint?! I’d still be trying to get the cap off the watercolor paint. But of course you chose a subject at which you are exceptional – glass. So beautifully painted. I’m thinking of all the magic in that jar and all the magic in your hands.
That’s so sweet of you to say, Sharon! 😃💕I love painting glass and shiny objects. I’m sure there’s a story there, but I’m not sure why I do! Hehe
This is brilliant. I must do some glass! You have inspired me…
Thanks, Marina! 😃💕And yay!! Glad I inspired you!! Yes! Yes! Please do it!!
Well, whatever you’re rushing off to, I hope it’s an enjoyable and fun evening/afternoon/day! This quickie is great — love how you’ve captured the natural green in clear glass. I like this! 🙂
Awww thanks, Janina! 😃💕 I actually think a lack of time helped a lot. I liked how this one turned out. Glad you did as well!
Wow and woo! Stunning, my friend! Beautiful work and I hope you had a good time. Sometimes I think fast is better, particularly with WC as we don’t Fuss or Fiddle! Thank you for sharing and I’m really glad you’re enjoying one of my prompts lol! I actually tried it myself last night, as I really should do at least one of them lol. 💜💜💜💜💜
Awww thanks, sis!! 😃💕hehe… Yeah, it’s super fun to go fast and crazy. Using a limited palette is cool as well. You should totally try your own prompts!! Haha! They’re awesome!! 😉👍🏻
😎😊😍🌻🎨

I love your “quickies”, Charlie (sometimes more so than the ones you’ve taken your time with!). They are loose, expressive and have an energy that is vibrant.
Aww thanks, Judy! 😃💕So glad you liked this one!
Beautiful 🙂
