Written by Today we celebrate the color gold, or in my case, Quinacridone Gold, which is the primary color here in this brassy french horn. I adore this color because it’s like getting several colors in one, depending on how much water you use with it. I’ve added a bit of Turquoise and Quinacridone Rose for a touch of extra color. I’ve never actually played an instrument like this, but I think they’re really cool. It amazes me that someone discovered that metal bent and shaped in this way could actually create music. It’s really a rather impressive invention, and a bit difficult to render. I’m confident that this one wouldn’t be playable as I’m not even sure I’ve included all the tubes and bits needed for that, but I’ve hopefully included enough to get the idea across visually. We’ve got just 10 more days of World Watercolor Month to go and I hope you’re still painting along with me as we fill the world with beautiful watercolors! It’s been such a joy this month seeing all of the watercolors posted. I’ve not had time to comment much, but I’ve loved every one that I’ve seen scroll by! It’s not always easy to show up each and every day to paint, but it’s always worth it in the end. As addictions go, daily painting and sketching is one that I happily endorse and support. I had no idea when I started this blog that I would still be painting each and every day for over 3 years now. And my goal remains the same. To get as many people as possible addicted as well! So if that’s you, I hope you’ll keep joining me for my monthly art challenges that I host all year long. Why stop now? Exactly… I couldn’t think of a good reason either. It’s just too much fun! Though there are many wonderful things to enjoy in life, there’s little that compares with making art. If you’ve joined in for World Watercolor Month, I hope you’ve experienced exactly what I’m talking about. It’s such a wonderful way to add color and meaning to life as we live it each and every day, even if it’s just sharing a small piece of it, in glorious golds.

This is a fabulous sketch – the line work, the colors, the shadow. The instrument is beautiful in itself, but you’ve more than done it justice! One of my favorites so far.

So I figure that some long horn player from France was riding after his king in some war somewhere and the horse slips (don’t worry, he’s fine!) and the horn bell hits the ground and the whole thing gets all twisted up and voila, the French horn was born. It could have happened like that😂😂 !

Your french horn makes music for the eyes! I surprised myself and have managed to keep up with the prompts so far. I’m hoping I can finish out the 10 days! I’ll definitely be painting every day either way. Yay for World Watercolor month!

Really love the color and the reflection. French horn seem really fun to play, always want to play french horn / tuba and violin. But I am sure my neighbour will not likes that lol. And I love Winsor & Newton! :3

Glorious Golds is so appropriate for this great musical instrument. I Love Winsor Newton. But on a brighter note, your email statement was unusual but, I read it over several times an I like it but I can also apply to something recently. Wondering if this is your own thoughts.
