After we’d celebrated various official days with sketches and posts, it seemed odd that there wasn’t an official annual celebration for watercolor! July is the one year anniversary month of Doodlewash so, I thought I’d try to fix this missing holiday by writing a proposal to register an official month for watercolor – battling over 18,000 submissions received each year to become one of the coveted 30 to be added to the calendar. A long shot, to be sure, but that’s never stopped me and the great news is – it actually happened! And I wanted to let you all know so you could mark your calendars! July is now and forever, officially World Watercolor Month!
Take the ultimate challenge in July of 31 watercolor paintings/sketches in 31 days! (or join when you can, and tag all your watercolor images with #WorldWatercolorMonth in the month of July). And best of all, I’ve teamed up with The Dreaming Zebra Foundation to raise awareness for art education and encourage people to donate art supplies for underprivileged children around the world. Helping our future artists learn and grow! I’m hoping all of you fabulous doodlewashers and friends out there can help me begin to spread the word about the world’s first month-long global celebration of watercolor coming this July! This is your celebration, I’m just playing host as usual, so I’m looking for any and all suggestions on how we can make this thing BIG. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
