Figures Watercolor Sketching

I don’t have a strong interest in doing portraiture, but I do love street scenes so I need to start getting over my fear of putting people in them. Found a great video by Trevor Waugh on YouTube and then tried making these little people doodlewashes with varying degrees of success.

This is about all the detail I’m planning and I liked finding something that showed a lot of abstraction. Needless to say I’m going to have to keep practicing, but I’m no longer afraid of these tiny people in scenes now so that’s a win!

Those are great. I struggle to capture people on the street and on the go. I tend to fuss over detail and then get posture and general features all wrong. People may be the biggest challenge of all.

I agree… they’re so difficult! But I like the style of just saying…what the heck… Here’s a little person in a few strokes and done. 😉
