Picked up a water brush and hadn’t had a chance to try it yet. It’s a Caran d’Ache water brush, that I have to admit I just sort of liked the look of. So I decided to color my earlier sketch using only the water brush to try it out. It’s a great little brush that has a simple mechanism that controls the water flow very well. I really enjoyed using it!

But in the end, I’ll probably stick primarily to my regular brushes. We’ve already bonded and I don’t think I can break up with them at this point. I really do prefer the feel of a traditional brush and enjoy switching between a handful of brushes for greater variety. At any rate, another doodlewash done and more to come.

  1. I love your landscape and building paintings, Charlie! I agree with you on waterbrushes. I have scads of them because I always think I’ll use them – they’re so easy to clean and it’s nice not having to set up a water source. But they just don’t paint the same.
