Spurred by Tonya’s experiment with colors on paper, I did a quick chart on Strathmore Aquarius II. I did some other colors, for my own benefit because they were colors I haven’t tried on this paper yet.
You may have figured out by now that I’m a klutz. I managed to drop my brush and ruin both the Potter’s Pink & Pale Wisteria in the top row (that’s kind of like a Split in Bowling). I always manage to screw up charts, lol.
At any rate, besides the Schmincke colors, I wanted to point out what happened with the Mayan Blue in the right second row. This is another color I’ve seen described as flat. I don’t know if it shows in the scan, but in real life, on this paper, it almost glows. I’ve had good results with it on the Hahnemuhle Turner, Cezanne and Leonardo, too. I wish it didn’t dry out to a piece of charcoal in the palette.
