So I’m looking to begin selling work next year and I’m thinking I’ll start with sites that do a lot of the processing for you (Society6, Etsy, etc.). But when you’re asked to sell a piece NOT on an existing site, like through Instagram, or email, etc. How do you accept payment? In person I would just assume someone would pay via cash or check, but say when it’s something you’ll be shipping, what platform/method would you use? I know there’s a few different payment services I’ve come across, but I don’t know how well they work on the back end. I would want the buyer, and myself, to feel secure using it.
I sell my paintings and my Limited Edition Prints online! I have an Etsy Shop and I also sell directly on my Blog or Instagram. I use PayPal as payment method, it is secure for you and your customers both are protected. I am using it from years I also sell Internationally I never has any problem. 🙂
Thank you for suggesting it @YesterdayAfter! I actually recently had an experience (on the buying end) with using Paypal to charge something without a website interaction. I never knew it worked standalone before.
I use square. I like it because it’s linked to my website, but it’s also on my phone and can be used and Bazaars and art shows. It’s super easy to use and track how much I make. I also have the ability to send invoices to people who don’t go through my website, and the can pay with a credit card on their end. I find most people don’t have a ton of cash, but if you accept credit cards, they’re more wiling to buy.
