  • Hello there! I would like to share with you my first painting tutorial on portraits in watercolour on Khadi 640 gsm paper. I tried to capture the most important phases and details in one 3+ minutes video tutorial, but some elements are definitely not included. So, I will do my best to better address other phases in my process in coming videos, which will always feature the same topic but painting on different brand paper, i.e. Khadi 640gsm, Fabriano, Arches, and Hahnemühle.

Here is the link to watch the first tutorial (painting on Khadi 640gsm): https://violetad.com/2018/01/10/tutorial-1-painting-the-portrait-in-watercolour-on-khadi-640-gsm-paper/

Coming videos will be shared in the future using the same forum topic.
Be free to add to this topic your favourite tutorials on painting portraits in watercolour 🙂
    Cheers!

Fantastic video, Violeta!  Hmmmm. I have some Chinese watercolor brushes that I was going to trade off, because I seldom use them, but after seeing this I think maybe I’ll just try using them more often.

@sandra-strait I’m very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video, Sandra. I wouldn’t recommend trading off Chinese (and Japanese) watercolour brushes, which are really powerful. I use them a lot in my process, especially when painting large 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing your portrait video! Years ago I took a Chinese brush painting class to loosen me up. I’ll look for the brushes.

I don’t often paint large, which is why I seldom use the brushes.  But I’m glad I saw this video before I did trade them off.

@mmcbuck @sandra-strait I’m so so happy to inspire everyone here! Thank you for your kind feedback!

A wonderful video, Violeta!!  So inspiring!!!

@mary-roff Thank you Mary. I’m glad you like it!

Awesome – thanks for sharing your talent!
