A few days ago, Philippe made some pretzel rolls and served them with cheese, so that was the only reference I had for today’s prompt. Pretzels are a form of bread, after all, and any bread served with cheese is a perfectly wonderful thing indeed. Many mistook the first prompt of freshly made bed for this one, so note to self, make prompts more mutually exclusive. While fresh bread is indeed a wonderful simple pleasure, I’m rather content with just about any freshly baked item. I adore bread and pastries of every kind. I remember when the carb-free diets were hitting their stride a few years ago and my friends were declining to eat bread whenever we went to restaurants. I was in heaven! There was always plenty of bread I could then enjoy without worrying about politely sharing. Yeah, I’m a total glutton when it comes to fresh bread. The only thing that could possibly rival it is dessert.

Sure, I have to be rather careful as I get older with the amount of these treats that I enjoy. But, that’s just fine with me. I would much rather figure out exactly how to include them appropriately rather than excluding them entirely. That seems too severe and not quite imaginative enough to suit me. No, when it comes to life’s lovely treats, it’s worth the effort to keep them in your life in moderation. Diet, after all, is supposed to simply refer to whatever we consume normally, not some horrible thing that feels restrictive! So many times in life, I see people taking denying themselves little pleasures outright. It’s far simpler to just not do something then to figure out how to include a bit of awesomeness in your life in ways that work wonderfully. I feel that about painting. So many people say they don’t have time and hope to try to paint again when life slows down. In my heart, I know that there is always time to do the things you love to do.  In the end, we can always find time for things that truly make us happy if we make the effort to try.

So yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and eat some pretzel bread with cheese and feel absolutely no regrets. I’m going to decline that lovely invitation to happy hour, because in truth, I really would rather be painting. Life is a lovely game of choices. What happens next is based entirely on the things we choose to prioritize. That’s the reason I’ve just now made over 800 daily doodlewashes! It’s like a 100 day project times 8! We can all do exactly what is in our hearts. We can make the impossible happen. That’s the beauty of life. Things are never as difficult as we make them seem. With just a little bit of commitment and drive, magical things can happen. Be impulsive and let your heart take you on the journey it wants to embark on. Don’t restrict yourself from finding that singular happiness that makes your day shine with delicious beauty. Whether it’s consecutively painting a ridiculous number of days, or simply enjoying the incredible taste of freshly made bread.

  1. I’m with you on the bread – although I’ll pass up the dessert so I can have more of the bread. Congrats on the 800 daily doodlewashes. There should be some kind of award for that! Love the painting – the only thing that’s wrong with it is that I can’t actually eat any of it, lol!

  2. 800 blows my mind! Wow! Are most of them edible Charlie? lol This one looks delish. There’s nothing better than fresh, warm, home-made bread slathered with melting butter!

    1. Thanks so much, Mary Beth! 😃💕 I’m so happy you liked this! And I have to admit… that was a rather good line. Thanks, for quoting it back to me, as it just take as I think. But isolated, it’s a nice one. hehe Life is just like that! And perfectly lovely!

  3. After 4 days without power (thank you Hurricane Irma) our power returned at 5 a.m. and all the lights in the house came on at once! Because even though our entire city was in the dark, it didn’t keep me from hitting the light switch out of habit when I entered a room. The first selfish thing I did was a load of laundry (think two sweaty people in 90 degree weather living out of a igloo cooler on their screen porch for 4 days. All the food in two freezers left yesterday when we had trash pickup. Being a practical person, however, the first thing I did was rev up the computer to read Charlie’s daily posts to brighten my day.

    1. awww Kaye!! 😃💕 That’s so wonderful to hear.. I’m so happy I could be there for you during this time. Ugh… I can’t imagine what it must be like. But when we had power outages here I do the same thing! Still turn off the lights that “should” be off even though nature already took care of it for me. Habits just never go away!! Like painting, thankfully!

  4. Well, I’m planning on reading through the whole thing if I can, and so far, you totally skew astute over nutbars. 😀 (I’m kind of a completist, for the record. One of those that has to watch a new-to-me t.v. series from the very beginning or I won’t watch at all. Same with series books. And apparently, blogs. 😀 I swear, it’s OCD, not stalker tendencies. 😀 😀 :D)
