An anniversary art project: To celebrate our 30th-wedding anniversary this month, my husband, John Sutton and I did something special each day.
It could be as simple and spontaneous as lighting a candle on our dinner table, but it’s always with the intention of expressing gratitude for each other.
In my sketchbook, I m…[Read more]
That is such a sweet and wonderful way to celebrate each other, Leyla. Happy 30th of love to you and John! I love the expressing gratitude part. Thank you for sharing your special moments with us through your beautiful paintings. Those are so delicate and so beautiful. I can’t wait to read more about it in your website. God bless you both! 🙂
Day 47: I see cows almost everywhere in Switzerland. We were standing beneath the Staubbach Falls and found these guys happily chewing on fresh damp grass. I did a very quick sketch because they kept moving about as they munch. Frankly, I always feel excited to see them. I wonder if they feel the same way?

Lovely! It brought back a memory I had of my time in Switzerland. At night, all the cow bells echoed through the valley as they wandered on their way back to their barns. I will never forget that sound.
I tend to paint at home and only sketch on location, but I ran across an image I made when I very first started painting back in 2015. I had just gotten a new job and was sitting by myself having lunch outside at a tiny cafe nearby. I just sketched what I saw in front of me, and made what you see here, a building called The Bauer across the…[Read more]
Charlie, that is so awesome! You must be thrilled! Like you, I mostly sketch on location and paint from home. Sometimes when I have more time, I would paint on the spot as well. I love the bright colors on your buildings. I also enjoyed the variation of ink strokes on your sketch which made it interesting. Thank you for sharing your wonderful…[Read more]
Aww thanks so much!! This was a really wonky sketch looking back at it. I kind of like the crazy lines. As I’ve gotten better, my lines got a little cleaner, but I like the roughness of the early stuff! hehe
Hi, Kate! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful memory of your grandparents’ ranch! I love how it is surrounded by trees and mountains. Love the addition of the words that made the sketch more special. I am sure your loved ones treasure these paintings of yours. Keep up the great work!

To date, this is the only watercolor I’ve matted and framed. Painted by a photo I took last year during World Watercolor Month. My sister and I traveled hundreds of miles to visit our family gravesite and remember my mother, 20 years after her passing. I painted this and sent it to my sister as a Christmas gift. We both use it as wallpaper on…[Read more]
