Additions to my “Small Town Sketchers”.
Back in 2006 my husband and I traveled to revisit his grandfathers farm in North Dakota located in Walsh county (pop-11,119). The Red River bordered the farm and across the river stood the one-room schoolhouse, now abandoned.
As the story is told, children from surrounding farms came to school here and the…[Read more]
This was done for a challenge, but thought it also fitted in here. I opened up my wardrobe and spied this old tie, my ‘quasi’ regimental tie. I say quasi because it wasn’t a regiment, but the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley in Hampshire -No 4 Coy RAMC. I ferreted around and got a photo of the hospital, or what was left of it when I was there in…[Read more]
I sketched the younger niece of my husband. She was making art and kept moving about. It was a challenge and the result was a funny looking arm. I was contemplating whether to paint this and share it with you guys. But I had fun painting it.
I realized that what was expressed and captured is more important than the outcome. I can never forget…[Read more]

Hi Tao! That is such a beautiful interior of a kitchen! The intricate furniture is such a unique one.. do you use it for cooking? What do you call that? i like the highlights you did on the pots and how the different tonal values make everything look 3d. Well done on the fire and I agree with Susan that it makes us feel the warmth. Thank you for…[Read more]
this is how I remember the vision of making toast when I was about 5years old ( a very very long time ago) but my own kitchen is about five years new and I much prefer the modern version for all sorts of reasons. thank you for your lovely comments
Hi Pamela! Wow! Thank you for sharing a glimpse of what Disney Florida looks like! I think you must have really like nature a lot because of all the greens you’ve incorporated in your painting. I can feel how relaxing it is to just watch the palm trees swaying. The house below made me curious on what’s inside. I especially like the shadow on the…[Read more]
Botanical Gardens,Boothbay,Maine..my Mom my 2 sisters and I went in August 2016,so much stonework and beautiful flowers and shrubs,,it was a glorious sunny warm day..lunch and some shopping down in the harbor.
I like your style, Pamela. I think without looking at your name, I will know this is your work. You have a distinct way of using greens and browns and the effect of your painting is almost color pencil like. I like how the stairs lead my eyes to wonder what’s behind. Thank you for sharing this!
This goat must be wondering what am I doing, staring at him/her like that with a pen and sketchbook! #rekindlememories #haydairies

thank you for sharing your sister’s wonderful gift with us, Pamela! I like the contrast that the ink gives against the watercolor. The shading you’ve done on the vase is spot on when you leave a highlight on it.. it pops! I’m sure you had an amazing birthday!
The colors that I like best when it comes to clothing are shades of blue, white, grey, yellow ochre or any colors that are neutral and pastel. I also like patterns and minimal designs/prints. When I saw the small feather-like patterns on this shirt, I absolutely like it. I was all the more thrilled when the shirt is reversible, meaning I can wear…[Read more]
Hello, June! What a beautiful start of something awesome! I really like how the horse downward run directs my eye down to the center on the house. I also like the dust illusion as the horse run down. Thank you for sharing this wonderful memory with us and for letting us know about your husband’s encouragement to you. It surely is so important! Take care!
