Hi! My name is Marian Sofia and I’m from Venezuela. I currently live in Katy, Texas near Houston where I grew up most of my life.
Ever since I was little, I have been drawing. As a child, I would always draw animals, especially horses and I think it’s partly due to the fact that I live in Texas. Yeehaw! Though, as I grew older, there was a shift in my focus during my junior high and high school days. Instead of doing art, I chose the musical path and did orchestra.
Orchestra became my main focus at the time and my art was put to the side. But fear not, after graduating high school, I took a painting class in college that inspired me to draw once again. I am now currently an art student pursuing a degree in graphic design and a minor in art history.
My favorite way to sketch is with pen and watercolor. I enjoy the pop of life the watercolors instantly add to the ink on the paper. On my sketches, I like including a word or a phrase to invoke some further thinking on an object. My style is a bit all over the place, but lately I have been doing simple sketches and enjoy the simplicity of a solid line in contrast with paper. A big part of my inspiration comes from Instagram. Urban sketching and pet portraits are my favorite subjects.
