The beautiful doodlewashes were created by Otto Besel in Argentina. He’s a graphic designer who studied at the University of Buenos Aires and currently works in scientific illustration and naturalistic painting (follow him on Instagram!).
For his work, he uses watercolor, gouache and acrylic. “The watercolour is a new technique for me,” he says, “difficult to master, but very rewarding to see the finished work.”
He especially likes to draw birds and works in layers of color, allowing each layer to dry in between. He uses 300gsm Fabriano paper and for watercolor, Winsor & Newton half pans.
Otto’s inspiration is Argentina, the country where he currently lives. Also, birds, insects and reptiles are his favorites and are very numerous there. “I also like people to enjoy my work and I respect and value the lives of these animals. My career as an artist is just starting and I hope to further progress on every work I make.”
Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us, Otto! We’ll be watching to see what you’ll make next! (be sure to follow Otto on Instagram for more!)
