Malacca Malaysia Watercolor Painting by @Phinomet

GUEST DOODLEWASH: Malacca, Malaysia

Another gorgeous doodlewash from Philippe (@Phinomet). Love the colors and style of this one! This is Christ Church, the oldest functioning Protestant church in Malaysia. Originally painted white, the church was given its signature red color scheme in 1911 which has become a hallmark of Malacca’s Dutch-era buildings. The church was originally built in 1753, however, the church bell at the top is inscribed with the date 1698, suggesting that it was used for another purpose prior to the church’s completion.

Located in the southern region of the Malay peninsula, Malacca (also called Melaka) has been dubbed “The Historic State” and is the third smallest Malaysian state after Perlis and Penang. The capital is Malacca City, which is 148 kilometres south east of Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
