These wonderful doodlewashes come to us from Teresa Robeson in Bloomington, Indiana (check out her website for all the places to find and follow her online!). She was born in Hong Kong, and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia when she was 8. Later, she moved to Delaware at age 25, then to Indiana when she was 28 and has lived in the Midwest for the past 23 years.
Teresa says, “I wasn’t that interested in art growing up, but took an art class in grade 11 and have been dabbling ever since, taking a course here and there to learn about techniques and processes. I received compliments and encouragement from some of the instructors who think I have innate talent, but it took almost 40 years for me to gain enough confidence to show my art to the general public.”
In 1986, she says she took the most fabulous trip to Europe and wished that she had thought to bring a sketch book along then, but was “young and chicken.” Though she did have the ultimate fun of turning 22 in Cannes, France! “These days,” she says, “I’m mostly settled except for the yen to take on yet another hobby the way some people take on stray cats.”
Teresa’s many hobbies include creating art, sewing, knitting, baking, making soap and paper, fretting about the state of the world and wasting time. Teresa says, “In my spare time (hahaha!), I like to laugh, eat, and sleep, not always in that order, and generally not all at once, although I’ve been known to laugh in my sleep.”
Born in 1964, she was lucky enough to view the first lunar landing and be raised on a healthy dose of Star Trek. She says, “This series of fortunate events turned me into a nerd/geek-girl who loves to write and read science fiction, science, and modern fantasy.”
She has a life-long love of children’s lit, having never really grown up. (yes! we never should!) Her stories and poems have appeared in publications for children and adults, such as Babybug, Ladybug, and Outdoor Indiana magazines. You can check out her Amazon author page here! Currently she’s working on learning the craft of illustration, hoping to illustrate her own books one day! (I’d say she’s ready now!)
Follow Teresa’s blog, One Good Thing, for daily smiles and wonderful things and be sure to follow her on Twitter! Thanks so much Teresa for all the smiles and beauty that you bring to the world and making people’s hearts smile. You keep us all forever young! And by sharing your amazing talent and daily inspiration, we too, will never grow up!
