Sketching William the Lurcher by Ann Hyde

GUEST ARTIST: “Sketching William” by Ann Hyde

Meet William the Lurcher (a type of dog originating in England and Ireland), who is also an avid blogger. You can check out his blog here, (though his secretary does the typing).  In his words, “I was born on the 13 October 2007 at a farm near Tavistock (a town in England) – I’m a mixture of Deerhound, Greyhound, Bedlington, Collie and Huntaway and I’m lucky to still live in Devon near to a wonderful beach.” You can also view more of William on Facebook.

William is also a constant inspiration to his super talented owner and artist, Ann Hyde, who makes a daily doodlewash of him on her blog “Sketching William the Lurcher – a drawing every day.” She has been sketching William every day for over three years now. Ann’s sketches are amazing and it was incredibly difficult to choose just four of them to feature here, so I highly recommend you check out her site for more!

Watercolor is Ann’s primary medium of choice, followed closely by acrylics and oils. Ann says, “I started drawing as soon as I picked up a pencil. As I say on my Twitter page….Art for the love of it.” (We love that motto!) She has no formal training, which she feels has been good for her, as it’s made her continue to learn along the way.

Not to be outdone by William, Ann also maintains a blog her own which you can visit here and her work is also available for purchase in her Etsy shop.  Her definitive style will bring a smile to your face each day with its beautiful, graceful and artful simplicity. Thank you so much Ann and William for the daily fun and inspiration and we can’t wait to see more!
