The Red Tree by Philippe Noguera

GUEST DOODLEWASH: The Red Tree

Since it’s still Philippe’s birthday weekend, he gets to be the Guest Doodlewash for today with this lovely piece he created of a house in our neighborhood. Fall is slowly appearing here and the bright red tree in the foreground decided to get there first in a blaze of red glory!

For this one, Philippe used M. Graham paints and various greens including washes of Azo Green, Sap Green, and Permanent Green. For the tree and star of the show, he used a mix of all the reds in his palette which include Alizarin Crimson, Pyroll Red, and Maroon Perylene.

As we were out driving around today, we saw more pops of various colors starting to appear, but it will probably be another week before fall really starts to show off. I love this time of year, because the air is brisk, but not too cold yet (though Philippe and the dog disagree here), and the colors are just amazing, particularly when pitched against a bright blue sky.

The trouble is, this wondrous time doesn’t seem to last very long and there’s really only two to three weeks to enjoy it before the leaves turn brown and begin to shed. I never get too sad about seeing the trees turn into skeletal versions of themselves as I think they’re still beautiful. And winter means that the Christmas season will soon be here, which is so exciting. The dog and I are already making out our wish lists, so be ready Philippe. After this birthday weekend, you’ll have some shopping to do!

  1. I’m delighted to see Philippe guesting again! Such a lovely painting of the house and some fall colors! Brown county, next county to ours, is well-known for a great place for seeing fall colors and it gets packed with tourists. Judging by our own trees, though, it may not be a most spectacular year. Many leaves are merely brown (and not just the sycamores that always go from green to brown overnight…LOL!) and a lot have blown off. Oh, well…still a pretty time of year. Birthday hugs for Philippe! <3 <3

  2. It’s a beautiful doodlewash by Philippe! Thanks for sharing the colors used! When I lived in Michigan and Connecticut, I loved the colors of fall. (I did not enjoying raking the leaves!)

Hope Philippe is having a wonderful birthday weekend!

    1. Sooo glad you liked it Kari!! ❤️😃 I used to rake leaves as a kid for pocket money and though it was fun. As an adult, I decided condos in the city were even more fun than raking leaves though. 😊 And Philippe is having an excellent bday weekend!! The weather here is perfect!! 😃👍🏻

      1. I know birthday celebration on weekend and weekday too 🎁🍰🎉🎁 (Bonus)! All fun!!! I feel sad at the end of the day on my birthday, because I need to wait for a year 😉😆 Hehe kidding 😍

          1. Hahah yeah I am just (seven two) reverse the numbers 😆 😝 I love birthday!! 🙊 That Day goes off quickly and again need to wait for special day for a year ☺️☺️
