Written by My name is Joshua Que and I currently live in Pinedale, Wyoming (follow me on Instagram!). I’m 17, but I started using watercolor at the age of 15. I am a lifeguard, and I usually spend a lot of time drawing or painting on my breaks.
I experiment a lot with watercolor and have developed many techniques. In these particular paintings, I sketched my ideas first, and then I applied a watercolor wash. The coloring and the details comes last.
My inspiration comes from knowing that if I don’t maximize my talent in drawing, I’m wasting or not pursuing where my potential can get me. I practice as much as I can in my spare time, and usually I use my family and friends as models.
I use Utrecht watercolor brushes (2,0,6, 1/2, 10, 12) , and Princeton watercolor brushes (6,2,4,1/4, 2/0). I also use Angora watercolors and Canson XL watercolor paper.
I would like to go into the medical field after high school. I’m still undecided between nursing and dentistry. I will not be pursuing art in college, but it will always stay as my favorite hobby.
