Parks of Plymouth UK by Sarah Smalldon

GUEST ARTIST: “Visiting Parks In Plymouth” by Sarah Smalldon

These lovely doodlewashes come to us from Sarah Smalldon who lives in Plymouth, Devon, UK. Above are just a couple fabulous examples from her sketchbook, but be sure to check out more from Sarah on Instagram (@sarahsmalldon_art), Facebook (/sarahsmalldonartist), or Twitter (@Sarah_smalldon). (Or all three, of course! She’s great!)  Sarah has a first class honours degree in fine art and currently works at Plymouth College of Art. Sarah says, “I love to doodlewash daily… While others watch the TV or read books I sketch!” (we love that!!) She mainly uses ink and watercolors, but switches to acrylic on her bigger pieces.

Plymouth Map Her current project is with her children over the summer holidays. They are visiting every park or green space in their city of Plymouth, which is a pretty cool idea and extra fun when you’re a doodlewasher. I actually can’t think of a much better way to spend a summer break! In her words, “Kids can try out the play park… The dog gets a walk and I get to doodlewash each park in it’s urban surroundings!!! Win win!’

Sarah is also an illustrator and loves to draw buildings. She does house and sometimes pet portraits. Be sure to check out her website to see more! Recently, she completed a commission for her friend in Salt Lake City, Utah who wanted a painting of their home for her husband. They had just purchased their very first house together and what better way to commemorate such an exciting event than with a lovely doodlewash?!

We’re thrilled that Sarah has eagerly decided to join the doodlewash movement and share her beautiful work with us and the world! It’s always thrilling to connect with talented artists and we can’t wait to see what Sarah Smalldon will doodlewash next!
