This amazing doodlewash comes to us from Beverly Dyer whose blog is titled The Art Prescription (where she was also kind enough to feature yours truly)! So honored to make an appearance on her wonderful blog. This is one of her favorite paintings (and mine!) that she did with just brush strokes. And it’s also available as a set of note cards in her Etsy shop. In her words, “I love Chinese Brush painting and the Zen of painting to capture the pure essence of a subject.”
Beverly is a nurse and an artist on a mission to provide a dose of art to anyone who needs it. She says that, “art is healing. It boosts the immune system, eases pain and depression by increasing good brain chemicals, and can be a way to release emotions.” It’s wonderful to know that this addictive act of splashing watercolor on a page to make something truly beautiful might also just be good for your health!
Beverly started writing a haiku a day and pairing it with a piece of art 3 1/2 years ago during a particularly difficult holiday season. Today she rarely misses a day without doing art with a haiku. Sometimes it’s a small piece (she is particularly fond of index cards), other times a complete painting, sketches from nature, or art journal entries. Through the Art Prescription, Beverly seeks to encourage everyone to live a creative life.
And we at Doodlewash couldn’t agree more with that mission! Thank you so much Beverly for giving us a dose of daily beauty and wisdom. Can’t wait to see your future doodlewashes! I highly recommend you visit Beverly’s inspiring blog and give a like to her Facebook page to get your Art Prescription each day!
