With less than 30 minutes to paint today, one would think I’d choose a far simpler subject. But with a prompt of “sheer” I inexplicably thought of gummy bears rather than a bit of lovely see-through fabric which I’m sure is the proper definition. What I didn’t think about was how devilishly difficult gummy bears would be to paint. I’m hoping the idea comes across at least in this sketch. Our friend Aesha is coming over in just a few minutes and so I need to be quick, but as ever, I just can’t skip a day of painting! So I’m sneaking in a little gummy treat before logging off and enjoying a lovely evening. I loved these little bears when I was growing up, but they taste a bit weird to me know. And the texture is a bit too bouncy for my taste. Which is an odd way to description an edible, but these are rather odd little candies. Biting the head off an innocent little bear seems a bit harsh as well. But they are nice and colorful.
I’m going to keep this post super short today as it’s a holiday weekend here and time for taking a little rest and relaxation. Something I really do, but seems to be long overdue! So, I hope wherever you are, you’re doing the same today. It’s a wonderful thing to chase every dream, but even more wonderful to spend a little quality time with the people you love.

Nice! My boys used to love watching the gummy bears cartoon on Saturday mornings!
Thanks!! 😃💕 Oh wow… I remember those cartoons. I loved watching cartoons on Saturday mornings…. best part about being a kid!
Charlie, this is beautiful! The shadow is delicate but still carries a bit of the lime color of the bears – and one of the bears is upside down, which I find very amusing. All this fun tied up in a shiny red ribbon – a perfect segue to a holiday weekend. Have fun!
Aww thanks, Sharon! 😃💕 I’m so happy you liked this. I was soooo rushed and realized this one could have used my usual hour. hehe… having fun this weekend though! Hope you’re doing the same!
So happy and gummy and greeeen! I used to like the green ones, for some reason – perhaps because they looked the most dangerous? 😉 I tend to agree, though – gummies are a little underwhelming these days, and it’s a resounding no to biting the heads off adorable little bears.
I hope you’re having a nice weekend!
Thanks, Jacob! 😃💕 Yeah, I always liked the green gummy bears, but for some reason, never green lollipops. hehe Not sure what that was. Having a fabulous weekend here… hope you are as well!!
I’m not a fan of most things gummy or gelatinous, but I do have a soft spot for gummy bears – they’re just so adorable! Also, I had an art retreat where a friend introduced me to soaking them in vodka for a day or so and then they are delightful at happy hour and feel much more adult :). This is gorgeous, as usual.
Thanks so much! 😃💕 Hehe… your friend sounds fun! I’ve never tried that but it sounds awesome. If nothing else, you’ll totally forget about the weird gummy and gelatinous texture! lol
