Party With Your Bear Day

Have A Party With Your Bear Day

So today’s odd holiday is all about having a party with your bear. Again, not sure who is to blame for this one and bear type was not specified. I opted for a teddy bear instead of an actual brown bear or, I suppose, a large hirsute man in a nightclub, since as many of you know, I don’t enjoy drawing people.

I tried to think back, but couldn’t come up with a time that I actually partied with my teddy bears. I guess I had a version of a slumber party that would count, but the primary intent was to sleep and didn’t include snacks so it was really the worst party one can imagine.

Also, I didn’t like parties back then either, so creating one just for kicks was unlikely to happen. I had several teddy bears, and I just assumed they all shared my disdain, but it occurs to me now there was probably at least one I was disappointing.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m traveling for work today and don’t have time to complete a proper story. So I invite you to share your own story in the comments! Have you ever partied with a bear? Tell us about it!

  1. I’ve never partied with a bear(not real, stuffed or hirsute one in a bar). I have, however, helped my kids party with the stuffed kind. When I taught preschool, there was a teddy bear picnic day in which we got to wear our pj’s (mine was a sexy Peppy Le Pew pj bottoms and a black tank, lol) and have a snack with our bears. I’ve always wanted a life-size teddy bear that Costco sells. 😊 Beautiful texture on your teddy bear!! It looks very soft and cuddly! Safe travels, Charlie!!

    1. Thanks Kari!! 💕😃Glad you like him!! Ooooo I think that Costco bear is so cool! But I could never justify getting him. Lol And teddy bear picnic day was referenced when I was researching this one. It was definitely “teddy bear” so much easier to celebrate with certainty! Hehe

  2. Love the look of your bears.
I have one I call ‘chocolate bear’ that my husband bought for me while on vacation early in our marriage and the three of us partied often. 😍😊
Are you traveling somewhere fun I hope?

  3. I’ve partied with my large stuffed giraffe. Does this count? lol! I posted it on my blog but I think this was before we knew each other. I dressed my giraffe with all these cute hats a friend loaned me and did a photo shoot in the backyard. I suppose it was kind of like a party. 😉 My neighbor thought I had lost it…but it made me laugh! I’m a little strange in that way. 😜 LoVe your Doodlewashed teddy bear! Great job on the fur! ❤️ Guess we both had teddy bears on our minds today! 😄🎨❤️

  4. I admit when I saw the title of this in my inbox, even knowing your aversion to (drawing) people, I kept my fingers crossed for the hirsute party animal… never mind though! This is heaps better; he is a dream! The fur looks so good – I expect that was either fun to achieve, or a blinkin’ nightmare.

The concept is a new one on me (as indeed are most of these days you come out with). I have vague memories of some sort of teddy bear’s picnic at school or maybe even nursery, but vague is the operative word – I might be imagining this. Other than that, no memories of partying with teddies, and my experiences with hairy clubbers are distressingly few.

    1. Haha… There was no way I was going there, but it did cross my mind! Lol And yeah…I have actually heard of the teddy bear’s picnic, but just a party with a bear day was a new one for me! A bit less precise and strange. Glad you liked my furry doodlewash though! Hehe 😉😃

  5. Oh Charlie O! I am blown away by your bear! Wowza! What you “cut short” in the storytelling of your post was so so so made up for in the fabulous doodlewash of this amazing teddy bear! Seriously!???!! You are traveling for work and had time to do this amazing painting?!? Blown away by the talent buddy! Shaking my head at disbelief at the computer screen with a huge smile – in awe of YOU!

  6. Fabulous fur Charlie, your bear is just asking for a hug 😀 No bear stories of my own I’m afraid but I did partake in a few teddy bears picnics with my son when he was little.

  7. Charlie, the texture you get is amazing, and it still looks fresh. wow! I have never cared for stuffed animals, but I took many years of piano lessons as a child, and loved to play the Teddy Bears’ Picnic song. I had totally forgotten about singing that with my mom. thanks for the memory, Charlie. have a good trip.

  8. I never had any bears as a kid (lots of girly dolls ‘tho), but I’ve made up for it now. You know your Charlie’s Cabinet of Curiosities bear, well, mine, whom I’ve called Jack, as he’s so handsome, is virtually the same as yours in that post, although Jack’s jumper is a navy blue with red hearts across his chest. He’s small enough to sit on my desk, keeping a foot on my extHD, to keep it from toppling over. He likes that job, and keeping me company! And he gets cuddles from me, frequently, and lots of interesting conversations! Cool doodle, Charlie.

    1. Thanks Janina! ❤️😃Awww…Jack sounds cute! (Since he’s also like my little Buff! Hehe) I think they should have a cuddle with your bear day as that sounds much better, and with less planning than a party requires. Actually, they probably do at some point! I haven’t checked! Lol
