Certainly one of the most common sights in summer around here are glasses filled with lots of ice cubes. While I normally drink my water ice-free most of the time, when the hot sun starts burning everything in sight, I happily change my habits. I actually had a fun bendy straw in my drink today, but I couldn’t get the perspective right in my initial contour sketch so I drew a traditional straw instead. But just wanted you to know, for no really good reason, that I’m actually a bendy straw kind of guy. I’m not sure what that says about a person, but there you have it. It wasn’t actually warm here, but I needed something to sketch so I doubled up on the ice. This meant that my drink was gone in just a couple sips, but I let it melt back into a proper drink while I quickly made a sketch of it, so it all worked out perfectly. My, that was boring little documentary of my day. Suffice it to say, I’ve done a rare thing by just taking things easy and relaxing.
Later this week World Watercolor Month begins and this year is going to be better than ever! In partnership with our incredible sponsors, we’ve cooked up some awesome giveaways and other great content coming your way throughout the month of July. So, be sure to drop by and read each post during the month, as there will be new things to win announced regularly. And lovely little rambles from yours truly, so you really don’t want to miss those anyway, right? There’s a lot left to plan as we head toward the big day, so I made today a day of rest in preparation for everything that still has to be completed. I wasn’t completely idle, of course, I also went shopping and got some new summer clothes. Nothing fancy, because I just can’t justify spending the money, so it’s a bit of Target fashion that I’ll be modeling at work this week. Well, not modeling in any official way as that would be weird, but you get the idea.
I hope all of you have had a wonderful and relaxing weekend as well! Things will be heating up in a great way on Doodlewash shortly so be sure to stayed tuned here for all the cool things that will be happening next. For now, I’m going to head into my evening of continued relaxation. There’s something fun about relaxing, your mind sort of clears entirely. That’s unfortunate, however, when you’re trying to complete a blog post because I have absolutely no idea what to talk about next. So, I’ll just keep this post a bit shorter and wish you all hugs and love. That’s something that everyone can enjoy, I think, like ice cubes on a hot summer day.

Charlie…… love the gorgeous reflected lights, and the shadows upon the ‘table’ are Fabulous!! great job 🙂
You got us curious you know, when you said you were going to model some clothes at work… so now we want to see the clothes! Hook. Reel. very good ! LOL cheers, Debi
Aww thanks, Debi! 😃💕 hehe… Oh wow… a clothes modeling video seems unlikely since I’ve yet to appear on camera. I will one day, though! Lol Maybe not modeling, but at least saying hello.
chuckling!! I’m not a huge fan of the whole video/audio thing myself Charlie 🙂 but look forward to seeing you do one, I’m sure you will look and sound wonderful!
aww you’re too sweet! 😊😃
Sometimes it gets so hot that I feel like eating my water. Your painting of ice makes me realize I could just do that!
hehe… thanks, Sharon! 😃💕 Yeah, I’m not great with summer heat… I get sooooo warm that it feels like I’m suffocating. I guess that’s good though as it’s a sign my metabolism hasn’t fully deserted me! Lol
You are so great at rendering glass. Looking at this painting makes me so thirsty. I’m with you on preferring my water chilled but sans ice. I prefer more liquid in my glass so I can slurp and relax and not have to refill so soon. My husband, however, is very big on ice in his drinks. It’s one of our chalk and cheese things. I also like bendy straws and I think that’s again because the ability to change angle allows me to relax more.
Thanks so much, Laura! 😃💕 And exactly!! Bendy straws allow for perfect ergonomic adjustments, so they’re really the only way to go. And yeah… ice-free for me for the same reason. I just want my drink to last!! hehe
Awesome!! I still have to up my watercolor game! I paint with acrylics and it’s hard for me to be gentle with my strokes 😀
