World Watercolor Month – Day 2 – Iced Tea In The Shade

For day two of World Watercolor Month I wasn’t quite sure what to paint, so I dove back into the prompts. “In the Shade” made me think of hiding under trees in the hot summer months with a pitcher of really cold iced tea. Honestly, I prefer being in the shade most of the time rather than melting under the sun. When I was a kid my favorite shade tree was a large weeping willow. It was wonderful to climb through the hanging branches to find that cool little spot near the base of the tree. It was like nature made me my own special fort and I loved it! And today, I’m loving seeing all the beautiful watercolors created by you that are forming in our group social gallery. And also, I’m SO ready to start giving away some free samples, so please read the full post if you’d one! This month is going to be amazing and there’s so many fun things coming your way. Keep spreading the word that anyone can jump in at any time, by just adding the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth when they post their watercolor art!

I’ve spoken of the many fun products that I have to share with you, thanks to this year’s amazing World Watercolor Month sponsors. There will be traditional giveaways with awesome prize packages you can enter coming next, but I thought it might be fun to just get a free sample, simply by commenting. Today, I have 10 Winsor & Newton watercolor marker samples to share, and if you’d like one, please add “I’ll have a marker” to your comment. For these samples I’ll be sharing during the month, you can only get one of each kind during the month, but are free to get them all if you can be among the first to comment!  So, again, the first 10 people to add “I’ll have a marker” to their comment will get one. I’ll reply letting you know you’ll receive one and you can then send me your name and address. (and these can ship most places in the world, but apologies in advance if you happen to live in a place where shipping might be a problem).

I’ll have another fun free sample in tomorrow’s post and throughout the month, so be sure to stay tuned and read my little rambles if you’d like some free stuff! I’ve sort of hidden the full info on these samples in the last couple paragraphs to say thanks to all of you who read my little posts. It means so much to me to know that you drop by and see what little thing I’ve illustrated and what story came from that. And again, apologies to my WordPress Reader friends as there’s a WordPress bug that they say they’re fixing, but you might have to pop over to my site to comment. I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend, and I’m thrilled to share some freebies with you to help celebrate the weekend, and all month long! Let’s have the most amazing July ever! Keep painting the world with watercolor and spreading the kind of joy that can only come from making art!

  1. Oh I’ll have a marker! I’d love to try those. Your tea is beautiful – no Texan goes anywhere without 60 ounces of tea in their hand at all times (unsweet only, please – we’re not Georgians! 🙂 WWM is amazing – thank you for the inspiration – it’s been fun to run across some friends in that group and find more common ground. You are awesome.

  2. I’m absolutely new to watercolour painting, actually any art to be honest! I’m in my mid-60’s and have only just understood that I have a teensy bit of creativity in my bones. I came across your blog/group quite by chance and it intrigues me. I’ll be back, in the next couple of days, to my little home studio I managed to carve out of the chaos that is my life. I’m hoping I’ll find the courage to paint something AND post it!
Also, I’ll have a marker please!
I love to try new things!

    1. I love hearing that, Jakki! I’m so glad you found Doodlewash! The perfect place to share your creativity (I’m sure it’s MUCH more than a teensy bit! 😉) And here’s painting and posting!! DO it! DO it! You can log in and post right here on Doodlewash too! It’s a very supportive community we’ve built together. And yay to a free market sample! 3. I’ll have a marker! Charlie, your iced tea looks delicious! There’s nothing better on a hot summer day! Congrats on a wonderful beginning to World Watercolor Month, it is so much fun, and thank you!

  4. Aw, I have post a comment on the facebook page for the marker and never see the comment here, I think I am a little too late in the end 🙁 But that not a problem and thanks to you for giving away freebies! :3

  5. Darn, I miss it the markers 🙂 Oh well, such is life, right? Anyway, my favorite tree growing up was a HUGE Southern Magnolia tree, it was awesome to climb and hide and pretend I was in a forest. In the summer it was a lightening bug magnet and I would run around and catch as many as I could in a glass mason jar. Fun memories!

    1. Oh wow! What a fun memory, Sandee! 😃💕Yeah…i loved those lightening bug magnet trees! Such great times! And yeah, you missed this one, but I’m giving away something all the time this month so there will be lots of chances t get something! 😉

I think I’m too late but I’ll have a marker and even if I don’t, I’m impressed that you’ve lined up gifts for this community. This is the kind of event to look forward to.

    1. Thanks so much, Sharon! 😃💕 And I actually have gifts coming with nearly every post and multiple giveaways, so there’s lots of chances to get something cool! Yay to iced tea though… I can drink pitchers of this in the summer! hehe

  9. I would love to have a marker!! What a great painting. The cool ice tea pitcher helps remind me to keep cool. I am in Phoenix and it’s been extremely hot already this year!
