Day 19 - #WorldWatercolorGroup - Strawberry Sponge Cake Slice - #doodlewash

It’s All A Bit Spongy

Well, it’s been quite a week with lots of exciting changes and tons of ups and downs. When that happens, those who’ve been following me for a bit of time, know there’s only one thing that can happen next. A doodlewash dessert! So, for our prompt of “spongy” today we have a bit of strawberry cake. In reality, as most of you also know, these desserts are simply fantasies. But tonight, I’m actually getting a bit of dessert of a different variety. Philippe was feeling inspired and happy now that it’s the start of the weekend and made tiny cherry pies. They weren’t quite ready in time to paint, so they may be a future doodlewashed dessert instead. For now, they’re just sitting there telling me to get on with this post already and take a moment to enjoy them properly. But first, a few little updates for those who follow this blog…

Some of you may have noticed changes to the menu on this site beyond the many design changes that have occurred this week. So, what’s all the fuss been about? Well, since Doodlewash is and has always been about creating community, I got the wild idea that it might be incredibly cool to bring the community back to Doodlewash! It’s all still VERY experimental at this point while I figure out what I’m doing, but if any of you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can now log in to Doodlewash by registering with on site or using your Facebook login. From there, you can change your profile cover (top left corner), much like Facebook, and even click on Media to upload and share your paintings. There will also be Forums that people can use to share tips on watercolor and other things as we all think of them together. And, of course, Groups, starting of course with World Watercolor Group right here on this site where people, no matter what social network they prefer, can share art, like, comment and meet new friends.

There will be a new Community link coming in the main nav once this officially launches with appropriate links to all the new sections, but if you’d like to register now and set up your profile, you can start playing around with things as we all figure this out together. You can even try uploading art to your own personal Media Gallery. The one bug still remaining is that my blog posts are no longer showing up in the WordPress Reader, but instead, the site activity has been appearing. A side effect that means many of my WordPress friends may not see this post in the usual fashion. Engineers, who are smarter than I am, are currently trying to figure out why this is happening, but no solutions have come yet. This is simply a side effect when you can’t just leave well enough alone and insist on pursuing your big crazy dreams. I’m confident that it will all get sorted out, but in the mean time, just rather excited about all the possibilities ahead. Great things are definitely coming, but for now, yes, it’s all a bit spongy.

  1. I have been wondering about what has been going on with your blog. I have been seeing all of these post titles from you appearing in my Reader but with no content. I saw the option to register so thought maybe it was privacy settings had been changed. I have, therefore, registered with your site and – who knows – maybe I will even participate in your Doodlewash activities as a result. I have always wanted to but time is always against me, my art time being as skimpily rationed as it is. Anyway, I hope the glitches you are experiencing get sorted out very soon. I can only imagine how frustrated you are with these blog gremlins. I look forward to seeing how things evolve.

    1. Yay! Awesome! I saw that you registered! In today’s post I’m revealing some of the registration woes I’ve found. I’m not sure how you registered, but apparently I can only activate social logins rather than actual registration. So, you can login by clicking the WordPress Icon in the sidebar now (let me know if you have any trouble with that). But I’m thrilled with the idea that I might coax you into participating in my madness! hehe Yes please!! I would love that!!! 😃💕

      1. I’ll check it out when I’m on a bigger screen. I work in education so have more flexibility with my time over the summer so I’m hoping that means I can take on an extra art challenge. In theory.

  2. Ha – I did notice the little activity bulletins earlier, and wondered if I was supposed to be seeing them, and if all was going to plan 😛 It’s exciting, though – the ideas sound wonderful and just a few teething problems will be sorted in no time. And if your teasing me with this scrummy cake and the prospect of mini cherry pies is in response to me dissing the almighty ice cream again, well then you win, ’cause I’m mighty jealous. 😉 Pleased too, though, because I think you deserve a dessert after all this graft!

    1. Yes! That was my plan!! LOL 😃💕 You simply get what you deserve with your ice cream strangeness. But yeah, this little dream has been a huge challenge to get off the ground. You can now register by just clicking the WordPress Icon in the sidebar… you should try it! You can make a Zonkey your cover photo!! 😉

        1. Saw you there! And your zonkey!! Yay!! 😃💕 Soooo much more to come officially, but I figured we could all start with setting up our profiles first! hehe (be sure to add a cover image as well, and you can click the Media link to upload some art!)

  3. I always enjoy your FOOD-related watercolors! And I guess I missed all the excitement with the changes. Better go back & look at what you all are talking about!

  4. In other words, you just invited the whole world to come be part of Doodlewash Universe. That is a very kind act. And I love sponge cake, especially loaded with fruit and whipped cream – what a way to announce an inauguration! YUM!

I haven’t had any problems accessing your site but then I’m sorta the bumblebee who can’t fly, according to the rules of science, but I do it anyway. Rules – bah!

    1. Thanks Sharon! 😃💕 Good to know you haven’t experience any big bumps in the road. Yes… I’m invited the world to come play with me again. I’m like a big kid who can never have too many people to play with! lol Now you can just click the WordPress Icon (I hope! still hoping it all works) in the sidebar to login…. you should try it! It’s primarlily just profiles now, but groups and forums are coming shortly!
