Sky – this is an occasion where the scan looks better than the actual painting. I was trying opaque watercolor on black paper, and couldn’t get the glow I wanted. I kept fussing, and finally decided to just quit. Next time, I use gouache or I’ll use white paper. Sky-Opaque Watercolors on Stonehenge Aqua Black Watercolor paper
Thank you Zertab! The shading is done by layering 2-3 colors and then lifting color. You get a blend of colors plus that fluffy furry look. You need good paper though – you can’t lift color well on some papers.
