For the prompt of “Reptile” today, I’m popping in with a quick little doodle of a chameleon. I’ve been a bit of a chameleon myself over these past few months while I change up my style a bit. When I first started

Good for you getting your book closer to done! I finally finished a cover for my upcoming poetry chapbook. Instead of watercolor, it’s an ink painting. Now I just have to wait for warmer weather so I can get it varnished and UV protected.
-
Charlie you use reference pictures?? Using your imagination is much better. You’ll love it once you get used to it!
Spring is right around the corner. Finally. At least we can walk now that there is no ice or snow, at least here.
-
I think it is great, Charlie, that you are on a new adventure! Wishing you the very best with your new exploration!
-
What a lovely, happy reptile you’ve painted, Charlie! Maybe a character for a future book? Enjoy your pizza!!!
-
A happy (karma karma karma karma karma) chameleon. That’ll be in your head for days now, if it wasn’t already. You’re welcome! 😉 It’s still strange not having you show up every day and it feels like years since we last spoke, but thank goodness pizza night remains a constant! All the best. <3

I don’t paint plein air (from life) too often. I know I should because you get a better sense of perspective. I decided to paint the view from my living room window. Beautiful painting, Sandra. You have an amazing view from your window. Do you mind me asking what state you live in?
-
Thank you, Gary! I live in Oregon.
-
It lloks like a vert green state. I see lots of national forests on Google earth. I can see why you were so concerned about the fires.
-
Yes. Oregon is careful to protect its forests. We haven’t allowed as much building or huge recreational sites like most states have. 2/3 of the state is semi-arid, but the forested areas get lots (LOTS) of rainfall. Fires didn’t use to be a big problem. Between climate change and increasing population though, it’s getting drier every year.

Thank you, Brenda! It is wonderful to sit and look out on, especially when the birds are active!

I wish birds were active in my yard. But we do get dragonflies occasionally
-
We get those too! We used to get lots of nutria, but they were all removed. I know they’re considered pests, but I enjoyed their visits.

Hello Saumya, Thanks for sharing you cute little story and your art with us. Hope your baby will also inherit this trait from you. The flowers are beautiful themselves but I find them challenging painting them. It seems you have got a knack of it. Kudos!
All the best for your future journey of art and motherhood..

Hi Manish,
Thanks for your wishes..yes I do hope my daughter develops her talents and pursue whatever she likes. Thanks for complimenting my work..yes sometimes people do face challenge, but honestly, you just have to let yourself flow with the colors 🙂 I have been thinking of starting tutorials..if you want i will be happy to share.. thanks again!
-
-
Thanks for a good reminder. Going back to your art despite of failures for the joy of creating is important. Art any hobby is like water, even if you can’t swim you can still soothe your soul by wetting your feet
-
Hi Manish,
Yes, its very true…art as an hobby is surely like water..you can enjoy bit of it..Thanks for reading🙂
-
-
Saumya thank you for sharing your art and journey with us. Both are beautiful. It’s obvious that your heart is filled with joy and gratitude because it shows in your work. In addition to your artistic talent it’s refreshing to “meet” someone with a mature and gentle outlook on life. We can all think of those who have lived several decades longer than you have so far, and they haven’t figured out their priorities as well as you have. I’m sure you will have success at anything you put your mind to. All the best to you.

Hi Saumya, I visited your Instagram so I could put a face to this wonderful story that truly has touched me in so many ways. Your florals are all gorgeous, like being in field of colours year round. I was especially drawn to your roses, which you paint in wonderful colours. Lastly your topic title was perfectly expressed, I’ve been a perfectionist since childhood and still into my senior years, but working on it so I can paint with less critiquing on my art from myself. You have such amazing journey’s ahead with your wonderful family, thank you for sharing a part of your journey🤗

An artist draws or paints something and challenges others, not to copy, but to paint the same subject in their own way. This is probably the only time I\'ll do one, because I always have too many other projects going on. Artsy.rooo\'s style is so dynamic, bold and bright and I loved his challenge painting, so this once I jumped in and did it. Currently, I experimenting with the poster art style, so that\'s the way I did it. Surprisingly it came closer to Jayme\'s style than I thought it would, so I hope it\'s different enough (I know it isn\'t as well done!). Want to give it a try?
