Hello! New to this group, and amateur watercolor person. Making a gift for my husband for our anniversary and need a color for the Florida. Not very good with color theory. Just need a good idea for what would look good.

Thank you…I was thinking that…my worry was that it was too much of a contrast out of no where. You don’t think so? Sorry…I am not very confident about what to do…

Such a beautiful idea. A light wash of turquoise and blue around the state.
Thank you…I can’t take the credit for the idea…I got the idea from something on Etsy. Anyway, do you mean the light wash of turquoise on the Florida and a blue surrounding it? What kind of blue? Cerulean, ultramarine? Also, someone suggested yellows and oranges….what are your thoughts about that? My original thought was yellows and oranges as a contrast, but I was worried it would be kind of jarring. I’ve added the updated version with more of it completed. Not sure if that will make a difference to your thoughts or not. IMG_9209
