For the sixth day of World Watercolor Month, in response to our optional prompt of “Flow,” I thought of swimming under the sea. Well, first I simply thought about watercolor itself, of course, and the lovely
Gorgeous Charlie! I always thought that it would be fun to swim with the turtles and to see the coral before it disappeared but my inner ears said no way. I had bought my husband scuba diving lessons one year for his birthday and we tried. I had to quit after going to the bottom of the pool with a tank on. I always had ear issues as a child. At least I tried.
Social media has changed and it gets harder and harder to reach a target audience, whether because they’re friends or customers. And FB harasses you if you aren’t using their for-pay services. It’s much less fun than it was, but then, that’s the nature of things, not just the internet. It’s the reason we should really be grateful for the good things we have and why we should keep looking for those good things. You never know when you might not have what you have now, but there will always be something else as good.
Flow! Years ago I was writing a story and I lost myself in it. It was an incredible thing. I had never experienced flow before, at least not to that degree. After that, I read some things about flow and I realized I probably experienced it every day when I got lost it a book. So far I haven’t felt it with watercolor. I think to much. When I do feel it, I believe it will be a big breakthrough. Duende is another one of those things like flow. I felt it often when I was writing poetry. I occasionally talk about weeding the garden as a meditation and it think that too is related. All three are really the best drugs a person can take I think.
For our optional World Watercolor Month prompt of “Favorite Color” today, I found it difficult to choose. I love color in general and I’m not sure I really have a true favorite. But, when it comes to painting, I
Beautiful birds Charlie! So glad that you had a wonderful evening last night with friends. Nice day here, mixture of yard work, attaching labels to painting, grilling a steak to share and fresh garden peas!
I’m always a bit baffled by the concept of a favorite thing. I do have favorites for a time – an obsession with a particular thing, but then something else drifts by and I have a new obsession. Sounds like your 4th was fun!
Beautiful birds, Charlie!! Sounds like you had a wonderful evening!!! i managed to work and play today and spent most of the morning talking to a friend who lives up north. We’ve had a standing Sunday morning phone chat for probably 30 plus years and those calls can go on for as long as 3 hours every Sunday. It’s a huge bright spot in my week and we cover every topic under the sun. Nothing like a good friend to spend the morning with…even if it is over the phone.
These little birds are beautiful! I never heard of these before. What a treat to see your painting. I’m going to borrow some ideas from this to re-do my Lilac-breasted Roller bird I posted for today’s WorldWatercolorGroup challenge. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall to hear your group’s singing! Sounds like fun!
Thanks so much, Brenda! 😃💕 Aww thanks! You know it’s one of those times when you’re with friends and having wine so everything sounds perfect! lol This is why I don’t do videos, as one can never be sure.
Those birds are something! I’ve never heard of them before. It was a lot quieter here today. I watered some plants and painted some pears. I realized I need to get some new glasses. I can’t seem to keep within the lines!! 😂
For our optional World Watercolor Month prompt of “Quiet,” I only had time for a quick little doodle today. So I made a fast watercolor sketch of a couple of little birds snuggling in a tree. It’s a holiday here
Happy Independence Day, Charlie! We’ve been having rogue fireworks since Wednesday and I expect it will be pretty bad tonight. We’ll probably have a good view from our living room. I really hate the smell of cordite that hangs around afterward!
With a new law allowing people to buy their own fireworks for the 4th of July I’m pretty certain that our neighborhood will get rather noisy tonight. feel bad for all the critters…wild and domestic…our cats will be in hiding. Sounds like a wonderful evening, Charlie!!!!
Beautiful Charlie! Enjoy your evening with friends! We are relaxing this evening as I worked at a gallery this afternoon. We were able to open our Art in Bloom show that closed back in March a few days after it opened. I have 15 pieces hanging with works from 7 other artists. I may have landed another venue today. It was a good day but having a mask on for that long is hard. Breathing is an issue but it has to be. Happy 4th!
There is a lot of noise here. Pandemic or not, these people are going to party. I’m kind of disgusted with the whole thing because these people don’t seem to care about the possibility of killing someone with their stupidity. At least 5 ambulance calls have screamed past our house yesterday and today. I’m usually a bit more laid back about stuff but the lack of human kindness is getting to me today. In the bright side, I ate peas from the garden for dinner tonight, and then we had caramel, pecan sundaes for dessert. That makes up for a lot.
Thinking about “Playful” for today, our optional World Watercolor Month prompt, I immediately thought of a little kitten. I was going to doodle one playing with a ball of yarn and or hanging from a ball on a
My cat gets to go in the garage in the evening where she hunts mice. She’s very good at it. A week ago she brought one in. It was still alive. Joe was sleeping. The cats chased the very fast mouse into the bathroom. I went in after them. The cats lost the mouse and gave up. I had to get my long grabber and hunt the little guy down. I found him in the folds of the shower curtain. I picked him up and tossed him out. I would much prefer they hunted goldfish😀😀!
I love Windsor & Newton..and I love the sense of curiosity..it keeps us growing and seeking and hopefully learning…Thanks for your curiosity, it keeps us going here…and btw the painting is so adorable..love the kitten and the expression of the goldfish LOL 😊
