This is a photo of my son’s dog, Bear. It is his Christmas present. Bear crossed over the Rainbow Bridge several years ago. I only had a long distance fuzzy picture to work from so this was a difficult picture to do. He was thrilled with it which is the important thing. I had to use watercolor and colored pencils to get all of the variation in color I needed. It’s not one of my best, but I think the important thing is that I learn every time I tackle a difficult subject.
That is why I concentrate on pet portraits. It gives me such joy to do a portrait and see the look on the face of the owner. The first one I did was for a friend who lost her best bud, Bubblesl I surprised her at an art event where I had it on the wall. When she saw it, she cried and then gave me a huge hug. I cried too at the happiness it brought her. Bubbles final
