Out of all the brush shapes, I find the rigger the hardest to use. I decided that I\'d use one to try and get all those potato field perspective lines lined up. Phew! Only took about 5 times longer than it needed to, lol. I also remembered why I don\'t do perspective too often. It\'s kind of boring. I made some compositional choices that I\'m not over pleased with. One of those case where I fell in love with details but they don\'t really help the overall painting. This is a beautiful painting, Sandra!!!

Thank you so much, Mary!

Sandra, this is gorgeous and you give us such good information. Most, pretty much all, of my paintings are done with just one brush, a #4 round with a veth pointy tip. Inalso tend to get lost in the details.
-
Thank you, Brenda! I tend to do most of my painting with rounds, and though I use different sizes, usually I use one size per painting. I’ve been trying to stop that. You can do some interesting things with the different shapes if you practice with them enough. I was pushing with the rigger. They’re really only meant for long thin lines, like…[Read more]

Thanks for the information. I have a rigger but really haven’t used it.

Thank you so much, Migtari!

Whoa that’s one gorgeous scene!
-
Thank you so much, Zertab!

Fantastic painting, Sandra. I nearly always use a round brush even though I have a flat,a rigger and a sword which I think I’ve used a couple of times.
-
Thanks a million, Gary! I find myself using a round most of the time, but it’s a self-imposed limitation. There are definitely times that another type would make things easier.
-
-
Awesomely gorgeous!

Thanks a million, Susan!

Wow, stunning.

So many muscles in such a small animal, explains how caterpillars are so flexible in virtually every direction!

Isn’t it incredible? I think humans only have about 600 muscles!

Amazing, Sandra!!!

For the prompt of “Reptile” today, I’m popping in with a quick little doodle of a chameleon. I’ve been a bit of a chameleon myself over these past few months while I change up my style a bit. When I first started

Good for you getting your book closer to done! I finally finished a cover for my upcoming poetry chapbook. Instead of watercolor, it’s an ink painting. Now I just have to wait for warmer weather so I can get it varnished and UV protected.
-
Thanks so much, Lisa! 😃💕 And yay! That’s awesome you got your book cover finished. Congrats!
-
-
Charlie you use reference pictures?? Using your imagination is much better. You’ll love it once you get used to it!
Spring is right around the corner. Finally. At least we can walk now that there is no ice or snow, at least here.
-
I used to use reference images… now it’s all from my crazy brain! lol This is what I think chameleon look like anyway from sketching from photos previously. hehe And yay for spring!! 😃💕
-
-
I think it is great, Charlie, that you are on a new adventure! Wishing you the very best with your new exploration!
-
Aww thanks so much! 😃💕 I really appreciate it!
-
-
What a lovely, happy reptile you’ve painted, Charlie! Maybe a character for a future book? Enjoy your pizza!!!
-
Thanks so much, Mary! 😃💕 hehe… yeah, this little one might end up in a book one day!
-
-
A happy (karma karma karma karma karma) chameleon. That’ll be in your head for days now, if it wasn’t already. You’re welcome! 😉 It’s still strange not having you show up every day and it feels like years since we last spoke, but thank goodness pizza night remains a constant! All the best. <3
-
Oh you did that on purpose!!! ARGGH! LOL! That song will never leave now. lol Yeah, I just couldn’t keep the same schedule and still well… attempt to illustrate a book at least. It’s way harder than I thought and taking lots more practice and time, but it’s fun to DO! Hope you’re doing well my friend! 😃💕
-
-
Great. I love your little chameleon, Charlie.
-
Thanks so much, Gary! 😃💕
-
-
Using you creativity is a boost for you wellbeing, lovely chameleon you created .
-
Thanks so much, Fatima! 😃💕 Yeah, it’s fun to play and try new things. Definitely a boost to wellbeing!
-
-
You see to have kept a cheerful perspective after almost a year of sheltering at home. Good for you!
-
Thanks so much, Laura! 😃💕 Yeah, my insatiable optimism really helped get me through this. In truth, I’m such an introvert that it wasn’t all bad, but a bit boring. Will be nice to get out and about again one day!
-
-
Love your chameleon and it is exciting each time to see what comes from our pen, brush or pencil. Thanks for your words of encouragement.
-
Aww thanks so much, Priscilla! 😃💕 These days, I’m a bit surprised myself as to what appears! hehe Just playing and enjoying the journey. Hope you are as well, my friend!
-
-
Thanks so much, Marisela! 😃💕 The pizza was wonderful as always… and Friday night is the official start of the weekend so it’s always my favorite! And yay to fur babies, though I think ours is definitely spoiled. And Monster sounds like he knew exactly how to sniff out treats and fun! Glad you hear things are on the mend there. The weather here has been a touch cool, but sunny and beautiful. Hugs to you!!
-
Hello, Mugdha! 😃💕 Aww I’m glad my little chameleon wasn’t scary for you. Great to see you again my friend! Yeah, it was really cold here and snowy for a week or so and then it warmed up and everything melted. Spring is on the way indeed! I can’t wait! Hope all is well with you!

I don’t paint plein air (from life) too often. I know I should because you get a better sense of perspective. I decided to paint the view from my living room window. Beautiful painting, Sandra. You have an amazing view from your window. Do you mind me asking what state you live in?
-
Thank you, Gary! I live in Oregon.
-
It lloks like a vert green state. I see lots of national forests on Google earth. I can see why you were so concerned about the fires.
-
Yes. Oregon is careful to protect its forests. We haven’t allowed as much building or huge recreational sites like most states have. 2/3 of the state is semi-arid, but the forested areas get lots (LOTS) of rainfall. Fires didn’t use to be a big problem. Between climate change and increasing population though, it’s getting drier every year.

Thank you, Brenda! It is wonderful to sit and look out on, especially when the birds are active!

I wish birds were active in my yard. But we do get dragonflies occasionally
-
We get those too! We used to get lots of nutria, but they were all removed. I know they’re considered pests, but I enjoyed their visits.

Lovely, Sandra!

Thank you, Mary!
