Beautiful painting, Sandra. My wife and I go to a heavy horse show and they often have Ardennes there. They are very stocky and powerful. Did you know that thousands of of heavy horses were destroyed at the end of WW1 to save taking them back home. The Suffolk Punch is an endangered species now.
For our prompt of “Stars” today, it was the perfect opportunity to do another quick little galaxy watercolor. Well, quick to paint, but takes a bit of time to dry properly. I chose to add a simple doodle of a
Charlie I know a treat Phillippe will approve although he may cut down on the margarine you use. I use Becel with omegas but that is in Canada, you guys would have an alternate. Anyway popcorn with garlic. Real garlic cut up and then scooped out with one of those little tiny flour sifter things, or a tea strainer, or a spoon. Simmer the garlic in the margarine for a minute. It is sooo goood . I just had some. Yummy.
Once there was a runty mouse,
The weakest of all who lived in the house.
None of her wishes for strength came true,
Until she finally decided what she should do.
She climbed up a stair, and she climbed up a chair.
She climbed up a fountain – it seemed like a mountain!
She wanted to climb higher still, so finally she climbed up a hill.
She wished and wished with all her might,
She wished on the stars that shone that night.
What she didn’t know as she climbed each day,
She was growing stronger in every way!
Soon she was the strongest mouse,
No one was stronger that lived in that house!
So her wish came true on that starry night
Much to her astounded mousy delight.
But she realized the answer was exercise,
And was not only stronger, but also wise.
For our prompt of “Tentacle” today, I first thought about alien monsters, and then stumbled upon a rather new species of octopus called the ghost octopus. I imagined what Halloween must be like in the deep sea and
Halloween is definitely a holiday that has suffered over the years. When I was a kid we got candy bars came in one size, and that size was bigger than the so-call ‘King’ size we have now. When we went trick or treating we the full size candy bar or bag of candy. Ah, those were the days!
Fantastic Charlie, they are such interesting creatures and very intelligent! I’m running late tonight as I got sucked down the experimenting with new art idea rabbit hole and lost all since of time. I did get outside today and it was a perfect fall day.
Awww Charlie! This one’s a winner! Keep him in mind for the future, he’s got a sweet expression. My favorite Jacque Cousteau was about octopus, maybe in the Mediterranean. I love a smart animal that can outwit us with such seeming ease! Well, I have my own bit of nefarious tom-foolery to pass on: dress up Phineas and go get your candy! When we took out our little guy, people practically threw candy at us! None for me or the dog but my husband wouldn’t turn down a Snickers!
Brilliant. I love this little character. Trick or treating is relatively new in the UK but it’s a massive industry now. The supermarkets have lots of costumes and treats on the shelves weeks before the day.
Cute! And I had to look up your plural because inquiring minds need more info and found this. The three main plurals for octopus come from the different ways the English language adopts plurals. Octopi is the oldest plural of octopus, coming from the belief that Latin origins should have Latin endings. Octopuses is the next plural, which gives the word an English ending to match its adoption as an English word. Lastly, octopodes stems from the belief that because octopus is originally Greek, it should have a Greek ending.
So even though I say octopi, I’m not wrong. But I’m going to try to train myself to say octopuses.
Possibly one of Nemo’s neighbors? 😉 So cute. I agree with you, it is much easier and more fun to sketch things from your own imagination. There’s no right or wrong, well sort of. Have a great weekend! We have a coldfront coming in and I am looking forward to finally hunkering down under some cozy blankets.
Thanks so much, Lori! 😃💕 Yeah, sketching from imagination is fun. But, it’s super challenging to get things out of my crazy mind! lol It was warm yesterday here and now got really cool again. Time to hunker down indeed!
Thanks so much, Mugdha! 😃💕 Glad you enjoyed my little octopus character. I did actually start by putting a bucket in each arm, but it looked too busy in the end and he didn’t an arm to knock! hehe Yeah, that poor apple-giving neighbor didn’t get many visits. But perhaps that was the point! lol
For our prompt of “Grin” today, I ended up with a little grinning cat pouncing on a grinning Halloween pumpkin. I had asked Philippe to carve a pumpkin for me, but he hasn’t done it yet. So, I used a pumpkin he
Love this, Charlie! Love to see people smiling…it’s amazing how many people walk around without a smile on their face. I have this game that I play…see how many people I can get to smile at me when I’m out and about….especially at the grocery store because that seems to be about the only place I go at the moment. Some people smile back and some people look at me like I must have just left my strait jacket somewhere. Regardless, wearing a smile makes me feel good.
I remember reading a Victorian romance when I was young where a young man was told that people of good breeding did not grin. I don’t think that’s exactly true, but I’m always a little susicious of someone who doesn’t grin.
I am known for being smiley. When I was working, people would comment if they came to the reference desk and I wasn’t smiling at them. It was funny to me when it became a deal in the Me Too movement that women were insulted when men commented on them not smiling. I was just so used to it, it didn’t seem weird to me. I think my age was showing.
Tee hee, she looks like my old kitty. She used to sit with her mouth open occasionally and always looked silly. Smiling is one of the things I miss the most having to wear masks. I am a smiling fool. I like to make others smile or laugh. Lifes to short not too! Yep, Charlie, we would get along great!
Thanks so much, Mugdha! 😃💕 You’re too sweet! I hope I’m managed to inspire people to DO and follow their dreams! I think if we can all keep smiling and laughing and hoping, then life will just turn out beautifully!
