Red hot’s akin to spiciness? Not necessary… Spider lilies or Hell Flowers are seen as diabolical and a sign of bad luck by many Asians. The red hot colour signifies helpless resentment. However there are also legends that romanticised their nature to symbolise two people who love each other deeply (symbolises by the leaves and flowers) could…[Read more]

The chimera is another creature from Greek mythology. Talk about a mash-up! It had the body parts of goat, a lion and a serpent. Like the dragon, it could breathe fire. I wonder if they made good pets. Zebra Zensations Technical Pen & Qor Watercolor on Hahnemühle Cold Pressed Watercolor Postcard. Brush: Escoda Aquario Petit Gris Size 12 [Read more]

Finished my little flamingo! After the masking fluid mess I had I didn’t know I can save it. I used gouache and it came out pretty good.

3/8/19 In the Sky Every once in a while I see a Frigate Bird riding the air currents way up in the sky. It is rare to see one this close up but their shape is highly recognizable even at a great distance. 3.8.19 In the Sky img196

Thanks, Charlie. They are amazing birds but usually so far off in the distance all you see is the shape. A couple of years ago a
friend and I were eating dinner outdoors at a restaurant in Cortez, an old fishing village on the Gulf, and a flock of Frigate birds cam in to roost on a little island a few hundred yards out in the bay. It was…[Read more]-

On the river bank…
Many of my family memories involve fishing. Lol, throughout my childhood I bet we fished in every river, stream and creek within a 200 mile radius of where we lived.
So while my painting is not of any one particular place it represents a happy childhood of fun, water, fish and laughter.

Red and green makes…
Purple. Well, Rhodonite and or Carmine mixed with Phthalo Green makes purple. And if you use Rhodonite, you get some really lovely granulation as well. I love granulating colors. They add such fun texture and depth.
So obviously I just played with color and texture last night. The prompt was “today I am grateful for…”…[Read more]

After shopping at Trader Joe’s and finding almost every product available in pumpkin, I checked Doodlewash to find out that pumpkin wasn’t a prompt until late in the month. I guess this isn’t my time to wait, so quickly did this rural pumpkin patch. Credits to a Google image of an Iowa farm. #FYF #Doodlewashoctober2019 View
