Thanks, Cindy. There are so many artists here to inspire all of us. It’s a wonderful community.
I use mostly Daniel Smith and Holbein watercolors. My favorite watercolor paper is Arches. My favorite watercolor sketchbooks are Hahnemuhle and Khadi. I have yet to try Stillman and Birn although there is one in my cupboard just waiting to be…[Read more]

Oh Shar, this is so sweet! I see what you are talking about with the shading but it really is a terrifically good piece for your first!! Hair is usually so difficult too and it looks wonderful – go you! 👏🏻❤️❣️

I’m so glad it’s finally posted for you and we get to appreciate it with you! &#x…[Read more]

Possibly it would be good to do practice off-sheets with those challenging issues before attempting the whole portrait itself? Like getting the tonal values figured out on test sheets a…[Read more]

      • Pamela is spot on with her comments. I had to quit saving my do-overs as I ran out of room. LOL

    • Yvonne, yes I like your idea; I have learned to check the shade and strength of the paint on a separate piece of paper. However, I made only one shade at a time for the above portrait. I can picture now I will need to work on 2 portraits side by side: checking to see how the colors go together on practice sheet before painting the “real thing.”…[Read more]

      • Good ideas!👍🏻
I was playing with Inktense yesterday and of course, that ink simply doesn’t budge when it even slightly dries. Ugh what a mess I made! Today I start anew. Cheers to your work today! 😃
