Bang for the buck – a phrase that means getting the most value for the price you pay. It’s a phrase that I often repeat when talking about Princeton brushes. Princeton Artists Brush company sent me five of thei
I love this study, and I will come back to read it again, and again. It is informative, educational for my knowledge of brushes, and I feel it is coming from someone who has the time to share details with other artists. I love detail, and I choose brushes that have the ability to do what I want. The more expensive ones seem to do better. I love the multi-colored piece. This is detailed art at its best.
Very nice review! I didnt know they’d added a mottler or dagger to the Aqua Elite range–two of my fave brushes in the Neptune set. A lil’ jealous of those travel brushes, gotta be honest 😉. I’ll have to pop those on my wish list.
Thank you, Anna! The brush control did take a little practice, lol, but so worth it! The watercolor is QoR’s Mars Orange Deep. It is a bit more orange in real life but I couldn’t get my scanner or photos to pick up the real color. I love it, but it’s very opaque so it can dominate a painting if you aren’t careful. I like it for initial washes or for doing studies like these.
For Day 15 of #WorldWatercolorMonth and our prompt of “Monochromatic,” my mind immediately leapt to a zebra. Sort of monochromatic, shown here in two colors, because that’s as low as I can ever go. Sure, Lion King
I’ll check out the art supplies right now. Thanks for sharing Little Charlie with us. I feel like we would have be best friends. Yeah I try so hard to get back to Little Mireya because even thought there was hard times my art and imagination carried me through. I have taught special needs children art and it was the best days of my life. I’ve thought about going to get my credential but the educational system just doesn’t allow for the kind of freedom to truly teach art.
This is the perfect painting for the prompt and to help support your fundraising. I am in the process of putting a box of art supplies together and mailing it out. Are their specifics on what to send? Only watercolor related or any art or craft supplies? Thank you, Charlie.
Yay to kids getting art supplies! When I was in school once a year we had a pancake dinner with sausages and bacon. Upstairs in the big gymnasium there was a student art show. I may not have been an athlete, but I took art classes, and I always had something in the art show! Yes, kids need art supplies as much as footballs!
Super zebra, great perspective as he faces us! And a great perspective that you express, with art donations to the newest artists. It’s the best way to turn on the creative fire in kids’ hearts, when they don’t have to worry about the cost of supplies and just let the inspiration work. Little Charlie is doing a wonderful thing!
We’ve reached Day 14 of #WorldWatercolorMonth and for our prompt of “Furry Things,” I opted for this tiny little furry kitten. As many of you might know by now, I’m allergic to cats, but that doesn’t stop me from
Oh what a cute kitty! Looks similar to the one that we use to have which lived to almost 20 and still thought she was a kitten. We have not gotten a dog or a cat since. Maybe one of these days.
Optimism is something that I also try to hold on to. I’m working on the inner child thing. Doing better. 😉
Oh, as superior beings, a cat will definitely judge, even from day 1. But they forgive us our deficiencies because we’re only human, lol. You may not have a definite step-by-step but your activity book is quite helpful in the way it describes your process!
Thanks, Sandra! 😃💕 hehe… yeah… I swear I have a cat after all. Phineas has the same exact attitude! lol And thrilled you found my book helpful! Yay! It’s technically a step-by-step, but as the whole book itself, not a single activity. hehe… now you know how my crazy mind works. Just like a kid’s after all! 😉
I do love kittens! When we first moved here, there was a farm next door and people would drop off unwanted cats all the time. So cruel! But since they mostly weren’t fixed, we often had kittens around here in the spring. We rescued some for ourselves, and then some that we gave away, and then we trapped all the adults we could and had them neutered or spayed through a program that does it for a small donation. From a high of around 20 feral cats, we are down to two or three. I miss the kittens!
Cute little furball! And yes, we find time to do the things we love to do. I love that quote and when people ask me how I have time to sketch every day, that’s what I tell them. (And that I don’t spend much time on the internet!)
Thanks so much, Anna! 😃💕 Glad you liked my kitty! For me, my inner child is literally that reminder of how fearless and curious I was when I was a kid. At the time before I thought I knew everything and could practically predict the future. 😉 It’s about simplicity and taking things as they come instead of over-analyzing everything with that adult knowledge we think we have. It’s why when people asked me to make an art instruction book, I made an Activity Book for All Ages! hehe Sometimes, we think things are supposed to be “harder” when we’re adults, but we’re really just making life and sometimes art, much more difficult than it really is! 😉
For Day 13 of #WorldWatercolorMonth and our prompt of “glassy,” I opted for this margarita glass. It was sitting in front of me at lunch today when Philippe and I spontaneously decided we wanted to pretend we were
If I had a week where I was able bodied and could travel on a vacation, I think I would spend the entire time on beaches on Lake Superior. Rent a cabin so I could cook quick stuff and not waste time in restaurants. A fire pit for nights outside stargazing. My camera to preserve memories to paint later, and a bucket for rocks that I just have to bring home.
‘i love Windsor and Newton!”The Margarita looks very inviting !!! Canada is great place to vacation..just spent a day of my vacay in Niagara on the Lake in Ontario and it was wonderful!! I’ve visited several places in Canada and it’s always a very good experience.
Thanks, Mary! Yeah, I love going to Canada! I think Quebec City will ultimately win as it’s one of the places I’ve not been yet! hehe 😃💕And yay, you get a sample! Just send me a note here to verify your address – https://doodlewash.com/contact/
Great glass! I went “ugh” Charlie is trying to get me to try painting glass again. Well I skirted around it and then forgot to leave the little bit of glass on my sketch unpainted. It was a busy day and I was painting close to bedtime, so not my best job. You will need to go look for it, as it is a tribute to you! ;p IG lorictoo
haha!! You always know I’ll try to get people painting glass! It’s SO fun!! lol And thrilled that you did it!! yay! An owl with blue glasses is the best tribute EVER! Thank you! And by the way, this was a sample post and I didn’t get all the comments for this one, so 😃💕yay, you get a sample! Just send me a note here with your full name and address – https://doodlewash.com/contact/
hehe… thanks, Sharon for your confidence in my French ability. The truth is I can understand it, but speaking it so others can understand is still my challenge! 😊We’re thinking of Quebec City, just because I was in Montreal so many times already when I was shooting a movie and Philippe even joined me once. And I’ve been to Toronto a few times, so that would be something totally new! And yes! We really want to go in autumn! 😃💕
Thanks, Bonnie! 😃💕I’ve been to Montreal several times and I adore it! But was shooting a movie that required snow so it was very cold every time! hehe… still loved it!! We’re thinking of Quebec City just for something totally new! And by the way… do you want a free Winsor & Newton Sample? I didn’t get all 10 comments on this post so I have an extra one. If so, send me a note here with you name and address and I’ll send one your way – https://doodlewash.com/contact/
Thanks, Sarah! 😃💕 hehe… rereading that as you presented it, my first thought was ewwwwww! and then I remember it was equally my first thought while watching those diners. lol And glad you liked the doodlewash!
