Prompt Sunset. I was frantically searching for some art supplies, and found this old artwork that I totally remember nothing about. It’s watercolor, but I have no idea about the colors, the brand, the paper. I scrawled Swamp Sunset on the back. I didn’t find what I was looking for but at least I have something for today’s prompt. Prompt Ice: Snow cone. One of my favorite things of the summer time was the yearly festival we have in our little town with all sorts of fun entertainment, the carnival and the snow cones. I know many love the italian ices and i do as well but the ones i got used to first and tend to favor where the ones with tiny chunks of ice in them. 🙂 yummy…[Read more]
Prompt #Ice. You’d feel a shiver of ice down your spine if you saw this guy popping up next to your boat! Prompt #Things that Inspire You. Yesterday I posted an ATC that did for a swap back in 2009. It was one of a series of swaps where we were to copy the work and/or style of a master. These are the other three ATCs that I did for the Caillebotte swap. I enjoyed these challenges and they definitely inspired me! Chrysanthemums Garden-Pitt Brush…[Read more]
Thank you, Gaeyle! I haven’t done any ATCs for years. I did make my own when using specialty papers, like mulberry paper, but I used to buy the packages of Strathmore Illustration board that was cut to the proper size already. At the time, they were about the only pre-cut ATCs available.
thank you for the info Sandra, I have tried the Strathmore and find it a bit non responsive to watercolor. Once I adjusted my expectations of how watercolor reacts on the surface I have had fun trying tiny paintings. i have never tried mulberry paper…humm!
Yes – illustration board especially is not formulated for watercolor. Generally, I don’t care for the Strathmore watercolor paper except for their 500 Professional series and Aquarius II. At the time I was doing ATCs, I hadn’t got into watercolor yet.
