For our prompt of “Flowers,” I opted for some magnolia blossoms and a little warbler. I actually did the initial sketch for this one at lunch today. As I was making flowers and birds in my sketchbook there was a
So gorgeous!!!! I love the colors in your flowers and the bird is so sweet aweeeee!! 🙂 Spring is my fav time of the year just seems to be the most prefect weather and all of nature is doing its awesomeness 🙂
So pretty! Love the colors your chose. Normally I would be so jealous that you got snow. However, I am heading to DL later this week and would not want snow to get in the way. We had a lovely Fall Oregon weekend…..cloudy and a bit of rain. The only thing messing with my head is that it has been warm 50″s. For some reason I expect it to be bitter cold and bundle up, only to strip some of my layers. Must be from watching all those Hallmark Christmas movies. Hahahaha!
I have the Epson Perfection V550 Scanner. However, the next version up has a setting that helps you clean up your artwork better, and I think it’s a better choice – plus if you use the link here at Doodlewash if you buy it, money goes to the Dreaming Zebra…[Read more]
Hello my name is Silvia Elena Pastor, and I’m from Argentina, but I live with my Brazilian family, my teenage daughter and husband, in São Paulo, Brazil. From my childhood, I remember that I spent a lot of time

For our prompt of “Octopus” today, I opted for a little doodle of one in just two colors. I made him up based on several different references and proudly showed it to Philippe. His first comment was, “there are
I just this evening read an article and watched a video about an octopus that was filmed while he was sleeping and he kept changing color, leading scientists to surmise that he was dreaming! Pretty cool! But dogs dream, so I don’t know why they would think other creatures wouldn’t dream.
Nice to know this, Lisa! These molluscs have way more intelligence than what we think they have. They are good escape artists, escape from predators as well as stealthily prey on others by changing their color and texture too to match surroundings. They have a beak on their undersurface, in the centre of the web like attachment between their legs.I read up these facts only to paint the prompt by doodlewash.
Go Inky! I hope he (or she) is out there living life to its fullest, just as we should be, but I’m surprised at their short life span. I’ve read that octopi are very intelligent (I hope that is true), and your Inky painting is spot on. 🐙 💖
Thanks so much, Carol! 😃💕 glad you enjoyed this one! Yeah, I’m certain Inky is still out there enjoying the world. And an octopus is quite intelligent, though often scientists are baffled as to why they are!
Consider me ashamed for having not bothered to learn about the octopus. Folks here on doodlewash are far more knowledgeable than I regarding these remarkable creatures! And now I have totally reversed my opinion of them and see them in a much more positive light! Golly, here I am thinking I am an open-minded person and am just reminded by you and others that they deserve my respect! I am chastened!
I told you earlier this year about that show on Public tv. It gave me a whole new look at octopuses and I love them! I always imagine them purple, even though I now know they adjust their color to their environment. Wouldn’t that be fun to do? Nice job on inky!
Your octopus is magnificent! All artists should be like an octopus – trying 8 different things at once and slithering in search of yet new things to try! (and wouldn’t it be fabulous to have 8 arms? Wow! Can you imagine the artwork that would be created?)
haha!! Octopus is a blender!! YAY! I love those days…. we need to collaborate again my friend! 😃💕 And yay to just trying… I feel like I’ve made progress, but not the leaps and bounds sometimes I expected, so I just keep sketching onward! 😉
For our prompt of “Nuts,” today, I opted for pecans as they were my favorite growing up. Then, I simply decided to add a little mouse admiring them. We had a brief mouse problem in our house at the beginning of
Fabulous, Charlie! I am actually hoping not to see mice this winter. Last winter they eat out dishwasher which was a very expensive fix! They were searching for water and ate through hoses. We had to replace the dishwasher! 😟 Our house has a constant smell of mint to try to repel them.
Charlie, not only are your illustrations beautifully done, but your stories are truly captivating! I am in awe of your many talents! I find myself looking forward to your stories as much as a favorite TV show or movie! Thank you for sharing your talents with us; the world is a brighter place because of them!
Loved both the post and the doodle! Funny that Phineas could think of taking in boarders! Your words are filled with warmth, befitting the season. Always a pleasure to read your posts daily. Pecans are something we don’t get in our part of the world. But when my Uncle visits us from the USA, he usually gets these for us. I love the ones that are chocolate-covered!
This morning I opened the cupboard door under my kitchen sink and there was a big ole mouse in the trap we have set there. I feel sad for the ones we trap, but I can’t come up with a better solution. For years we didn’t have mice in our house, but now that the feral cat population is at two or three, they’re back. Although, one of our indoor cats loves to go in the garage and catch mice. She’s really good at it.
I adore pecan pie! And it’s the easiest pie to make. I’ll probably make two for thanksgiving. It’s my favorite breakfast food the day after.
He’s so cute! I love your pecans too. I like pecans, but I never think to buy them just to eat. I might have to pick up. Holiday food traditions are so funny. Same food every year, whether anyone anyone really wants it. A few years ago, I quit making a whole ham for our little family Christmas dinner. Instead I buy deli ham and make hot ham and cheese sandwiches on wonderful bakery rolls. The two men in my house are just as happy. Momma’s happy because I don’t have to spend alll day in the kitchen making a bunch of food they could careless about. The sandwich idea was actually my husband’s. We have a big meal with the in-law’s Christmas eve.
Thanks so much, Janet! 😃💕Yeah, things seems to change so much these days and distance is never a good thing. But the vision of your parents dancing the polka for hours is so heart-warming! What a beautiful tradition!
Yay to pecan pie and mice outdoors! 😃💕 hehe And awesome that your daughter has the Star Wars Lego calendar. I had to make a choice this year so I’m a bit jealous of the porg in a Santa hat that she’ll get at the end! lol
