Thank you for the encouragement. I am sorting out what suits my taste and temperament too. I have watched lots of YouTubes, but the Sketchbook Revival was so much better in that it explored such a variety of ways to enjoy a sketchbook. I have since put together a “on the go” book and pencils to take everywhere. And I am organizing a better space…[Read more]

I have come to that conclusion too. It is so versatile. I am gathering all sorts of water soluble supplies. It feels extravagant to buy a whole set, like did with the Inktense blocks, but I may never need to buy some of those colours ever again. And the right paper for what you are working on. It has moved me over to wanting to make my own small…[Read more]

After many years of yearning to learn and enjoy the practice of art and Watercolour, I’ve made the step andgiven myself permission to play. As a beginner I have been accumulating tools and books. It is a long path, but very enjoyable. It has been hard to focus what I want, as it changes. For now I’d like to paint looser style florals.

    • One of the nice things about watercolor is that it can be used in so many different ways. No need to focus on just one thing – I hop around and do a little bit of everything myself, and have for years!

    • Donna, you’ve certainly joined a perfect community as Doodlewash is chockablock full of every style and artist from around the world. Its jawdropping to see some of the work produced among them! I’m still learning too, but settling into my styles as I’ve longed for two … one like Charlie’s which is so illustrative and perfect for my art…[Read more]

Thanks. I did find those, and joined the beginner watercolor group, found the recommended videos – wonderful! I’ll learn as I go. So far the biggest challenge was logging in with my iPad. Apple products work differently. It really threw me off when I got an email this morning, with a user name and asking to set a password. That must be a c…[Read more]

    • Also, WordPress has a problem at the moment and if you post artwork, instead of showing the art, it creates a link to it. If this happens, go to the post (through News Feed or Activity on your home page) and click on Edit. You’ll see an icon with a paintbrush. Click on that, load the art again and it will show up in the post. A real pain, I…[Read more]
